You Fellas ain't anymore organized than you were on the other site!!
MoCraig ,thats pretty classless!
Having seen some of the bullshit and general kindergarten-type shit that has come about on the "other site", I'm guessing that "classless" is a compliment in Bubba's world!
I always find it interesting that when something is done on one site it's "funny, I don't care who ya are" and somewhere else it's classless or something to that effect. How's the saying go...don't like it, change the channel.

Number of bucks north of MO River that sport 8 or more points is, on average, right around 30%. South of the MO River, 20%.

Re: Outdoor Missouri Camp/Cookout
I should have said number of 18 month olds. Anyway, those are the numbers from THE SOURCE. So, for those fellows stating a few months back that the majority of 18 month old bucks were carrying at least 8 points, wrong again. I knew those were BS statements and argued with Showme and others until my last breath. At that time, I had no numbers, but I know BS when I see or hear it.

Re: Outdoor Missouri Camp/Cookout
What is "THE SOURCE" and how do we know that these are accruate #'s and simply not something you dreamed up while watching deer at the HFA#1 or HFA#2?
I'm with Hobie...what point you trying to make? I mean other than the fact that ShowMe doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground....which we already knew.
edit: BTW, are the #'s broken down anymore than just N & S of the MO River? I'd be willing to be that most of the land "N of the River" is pretty comparable in #'s. But I bet "S of the River" has a lot of variance in #'s. For instance, my area (just south of the river) probably has a lot higher % then does, say some areas in southern MO.

Re: Outdoor Missouri Camp/Cookout
These are just the numbers I was given by an individual that does know what he is talking about. Even a monkey knows that deer numbers can fluctuate from one small region to the next. I mean, I can draw a map of Boone County and show you where deer numbers are highest. Only a few miles from some of these places, deer density changes pretty drastically. I'd say that there are places around here where 18 month old 8-pointers only comprise 10% of the overall yearling buck population. In other places, I'd say 3/10 isn't far off. So, on average, It looks as if 1 in 4 yearling bucks actually sport at least 4 points on a side. So, in a perfect world, we should be saving 3 of these little fellows to eat for another year. Then, more than likely, they will get whacked at age 2.5.

Re: Outdoor Missouri Camp/Cookout
Or they will get whacked much earlier and tagged as an antlerless buck! Or the hunter will come to find out that what looked to be an 8 pointer, turned out to be a 6 with 2 broken points. Down the road, we might have a lot more/older 8 pointers and then what??? ...everyone's going to be shooting 8 pointers.....it still don't translate into bigger bucks or reduction in does. I don't think this antler restriction is going to increase the # of older, larger antlered bucks. I'm guessing that it's going to increase the # of antlerless kills, which will probably mean an increase in the # of antlerless bucks taken. MDC always wants to talk about how to get the doe:buck ratio more in line....but their regulations they are implementing won't have any impact on that. They're saying one thing and doing another. So, in a perfect world, we should be saving 3 of these little fellows to eat for another year. Then, more than likely, they will get whacked at age 2.5.

Hey guys, start a new thread so people will see this argument as it hatches!

Re: Outdoor Missouri Camp/Cookout
What in the hell are you talking about OF? The regulations, the way they are set up, will not in theory balance the buck to doe ratio? I mean, for goodness sakes man, they are allowing folks to kill unlimited does now-a-days. I don't like the idea of these antlerless kills going awry, but there isn't a dang thing I can do about it. I too feel that more button bucks will be taken, or possibly so. That is why I feel that a button buck should be tagged as a buck regardless. Of course, then you will have the idiots of the world coming up with the age-old excuse of not being able to identify a button buck. Well, if you can't be certain, then let it walk. Same way with other deer that don't sport 4 points on a single side. LH clearly stated the current buck-to-doe ratio at the management meeting held in Columbia back in January. For the life of me, I cannot remember what he said the actual number was. But, I remember being quite surprised. In fact, it was posted by 90Acres I believe. Something like antlerless-to-antlered was like 1.6:1 statewide. Based on everyone's complaints and the MDC's need to harvest more does, I would have assumed that ration to have been more like 4:1. Hobiecat, STFU unless you feel you have something credible that you can add to the discussion.
