Post by oneshot » July 5th, 2004, 2:14 pm

Please Pray for people up around Truman Lake this morning.Stong winds went through this morning blowed over Trees and Campers. They found one empty Boat on the lake.

My Brother in Law had one Tree blowed down, didn't cause no damage. But his neighbors was not as lucky,Campers were blowed over one had a tree through it.

They found the owner of that boat floating in the cove, the next morning.

Truman State Park is closed for now, because of damaged trees all over the place.

They estimated the straight-line wind speed @ 90mph. Some folks swear they saw a funnel cloud, but it didn't touch down.

The storm lasted only 15 minutes, but it sure done some damage...
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...

I was up there this past week and there were literally thousands of trees blown down or damaged......It went from at Osage Bluff clear to at least Bucksaw......A lot of homes were damaged from winds but more from trees falling and being blown down onto houses......
That's funny you don't look Druish.

It hit reelly fast at Truman, I was at Sterret Creek when it hit, the wind went from maybe 5 mph to its maximun about 2-3 minutes , really not any warning. The worst of it was over in 10 minutes.

Fish, I wasnt up there when it hit, but I fished on Thursday and Friday with a guy who was fishing near Long Shoals and it hit pretty fast....They were in a 20 foot Basscat and the wind hit it and turned it around 180 degrees...They finally made it to the Long Shoals dock and hid behind a big boat....He is 70 years old and he said he didnt remember ever being that scared...lol

Glad we weren't up there. I don't think my boat would have handled those kind of winds. I would have been out around KK Island where I normally fish. Image Image

I was at Osage Bluff camping when it hit. Luckily I was not on the water like I probably would have been because I had gone to a private fireworks party the night before and slept in late. The campground in Osage Bluff is in a sheltered cove, so the wind didn't do damage there. It's one of the few places that still had electricity.

The rest of the area was pretty bad. Mostly downed trees, limbs, and power lines. The damage reminded me of the Kansas City Ice Storm from a few year's back.

I just downloaded my photos of the damage yesterday. Maybe I will try and post a few.

Not to think ill of the dead but I have to wonder where his PFD was???

Supposedly, it was on the pontoon boat that came floating back into the cove...
