Should have went with us...

Got the camera stand built tonight. The floor is about 36" higher than the platform floor. Should give us some good footage if we find the fish.

Are you going down to Falcon Lake or one of the rivers with the big gator gar? Remember that you are also headed into cotton mouth territory, and them boys is aggressive as all get-out.Not so bad on the lakes with all the open water, but the rivers are (literally) crawling with them. Every log jam and a bunch of the overhanging limbs of trees on the bank seems to hold big moccasins. Just be ready for uninvited critters in the boat......Good luck and don't get drug in by a big gator gar.

Rayburn and Toledo Bend. I go just about every year. Falcon has more gator gar, but these lakes have giant buffs, which I can't pass up. We haven't seen many snakes. Speaking of drug in, my first gator gar came very close to doing that. Took me down on my knees, I reached up and grabbed for something to hold and got my buddy's shorts pocket and ripped it off. Only thing that kept me on the boat was him grabbing my by the belt. Image

WTF do you do with 'em when you've killed 'em?

Wish you could find a way to seed a few into the Meramac.

Otters would probably eat 'em.

I don't think it would be too appealing to me to have a full mount of an alligator gar in the house. I saw one once growing up down on the St. Francis River. I would like to kill one of them for sure. But, I would like to have a full skeleton of one of them mounted and put in the garage or maybe in my shed (if I had one).

Do they patrol the surface or do you chum to attract them?

Don't think I would want to swim in the water knowing those things are around.
