crappie fishing

Fished 9/5 at Truman and caught limit of 10-12 inch crappie in three hours using jig and minnow, fish suspended 18-20 feet in 20-30 feet of water around structure. Fished 9/6 at a private lake and caught 23 keepers, the largest 2.2 pounds, 15 1/2 incher and the smallest was an even 10 incher. used a jig tipped with a crappie niblet 3 feet under a bobber. Put 38 in the freezer, not a bad weekend.

those nibblets are great!

i've been having luck with minnows on a chartruse jighook 1/16th oz under a slip cork, and fishing micro jigs tipped with nibbles. the micro jigs (1/64th oz) are dull natrual tones, olive or brown maraboo, fished slowly.

in fact for a while yesterday, i would cast to a brush pile in 9ft of water next to a channel, count to 10, and set the hook, the fish were catching it on the fall, or nothing.
