Its Not About The Meat

Post by oneshot » September 21st, 2004, 7:23 pm

You always hear Guys talking about filling their Freezers with cheap meat durring Deer Season.Well I had a chance to fill mine but didn't do it.

My Boy called wanted to know if I wanted to cut up 2 Buffalo,1 Elk,and 1 Moose. And give me all the meat I wanted.Told him it would be way more than I could handle. But he said he would give me some Buffalo anyway.

But you know to really think about it,it would have been a shame not going Hunting or Fishing because I had all the meat I wanted. Image

Oneshot, I agree. But a big part of the satisfaction is putting the meat there yourself.

I agree with HC...As much as I like getting outdoors and hunting, I actually like to butcher up the deer Image. Never heard of too much meat. My family kind of has a community freezer at my mom's house and you would be surprised how fast the meat disappears out of it.

I think I would have taken up his offer just to have some variance of game not normally available to us. Not a bunch, but a little of each would be cool.

Part of it is about the meat. Just a part though. If I was killing a pile of anything and there was not meat involved, I would just take a chainsaw out and chop down a bunch of trees. There is something in us(outdoorsmen) that makes us want to kill and eat. Period.

TTTim,

I don't know if you meant it that way or not, but that was damned funny.

It's a primale thing... I like to kill, I like to butcher, I like to eat meat..
I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. – Fred Bear

You know what they say...

If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them taste like MEAT!!!
