I hate rifle season

Post by 2BHNTN » November 16th, 2004, 5:03 pm

Had two nice deer patterned and a few more days on stand and I am confident one of them would be down. Along comes rile season and all the regulars were no longer regular. I fuggin hate rifle season. I think 5 days the weekend after thanksgiving would be sufficient. Image

I'm with ya on that.

If it weren't for a few of my buddies wantin to go, I prolly wouldn't even rifle hunt at all. It sure screws up some good bowhuntin!

Hey, can you help me out with something 2B. I have this can of worms, could you open it for me??? Image All joking aside. I agree with you. The most enjoyable part of gun season, is the camp, sitting around BSing with some buddies, and giving them a hard time and all that goes with it. Truth be known, it would be just as much fun at the beginning of December as it would be in the middle of November! I must say though, maybe it's just me, but it appears the antler restriction must be doing a little something, heard a lot less shooting this past weekend down in our neck of the woods.

No really, I hates a bowhunter. Hell, mornings I wake up to go bowhunting I normally tell myself I hate you in the mirror while brushing my teeth.

Here's a plan:

Gun season in December for 3 weeks. (no more doe season)

Shotgun or muzzleloader only.

Muzzleloader 2nd week in Oct.

4 on a side for everything even youth season

Ok, you guys got me to register on this one. Ive been thinking about this all week...(how much I hate rifle season).

MO needs to rethink the whole hi-powered rifle thing. Too many people have no respect for what such a weapon can do. Lets go shotgun/muzzleloader only, for obvious reasons.

...I could go on all day about this because just 2 weeks ago I heard the dreaded "zziiing" of stray bullets while bow hunting. I got down and found 3 teenage kids shooting at a pond in my direction. Image

...I like your plan marshdog..

I hate rifle season too....too many hunters kill good bucks that don't deserve them. They don't put in the time or energy to pattern them...just show up on Saturday morning in the stand that they don't even check until they climb in on opening morning and then kill a monster. And I really enjoy the sound of high powered rifles going off everywhere...sounding like WW III.

I dunno about WWII, but it was the 4th of July out where I was at Saterday. I kept waiting and wanting for my turn to sound off Image

Would have to agree completely. Didn't hunt last year or this year because the "zziing" in '02 hit a tree 10 yards from me. Huntin' a family farm in Franklin County and some jackleg decided to take a shot from the road two hunnerd yards away, at the sammich buck that I had let go. Went home and contemplated life and my desire for venison.
