83 or 84 Mazda B-2000. It had been wrecked, but still looked pretty good. Got it when I went to college in 87. I tell you my mom and dad didn't have much when I was growing up, but my dad bought that for me and I was riding high.

My first vehicle was a P.O.S. I won't even speak about it.

My first real car was a 1970 Chevy Nova. It was customized from a 230 Straight 6 to a 350 V-8. I built the engine myself using a block from a 1973 Monte Carlo. It had a lot of customization and a Holley 600 carb. I still left the Powerglide (2-speed automatic) transmission in it. It had headers and true dual exhaust. Tires were 245/60/15s all around; the wheels were rallys with the center caps. It was electric blue with a black vinyl top and had the original black vinyl bench.

I had to get rid of it during college at UMR (maybe you saw it around Rolla, BB) because of the fuel mileage and the negative attention it drew. Traded it for a 1983 Toyota P.U. and cash. Last I heard the teenager I sold it to wrapped it around a tree. Image

Tiger, the most popular car from a guy I knew of attending UMR (while I was in HS) in the mid 80's was a 68 (?) green cobra jet Mustang. Everybody on our pathetic drag referred to him as "Cobra-J".

JimDog - Nice truck. I'm looking for a project like that, but I want 4x4. If you see any deals, let me know.

2B - SWEET!!

THaus - You got good tastes in that Pontiac. Image My first ride was a '72 Grand Prix. 400 4bl, 400-turbo tranny. The last of the original low-riding, ghetto cruisers. Couldn't go downtown KC without a crowd of brothers checking it out. Image

Awesome. I absolutely love old MOPAR's. I wish I had that car today. Glad to see there are some other muscle car lovers in here. Image

2B, If you have to have one of those muscle cars means your probably trying to compensate for something else.

The old Mopars were the hard to beat. My first car was a 70 Cuda it came stock with a 383 Super Commando and a Hurst 4 speed. The color was Sublime and would put your eyes out. I bought that car in 1974 for $1395.00 with only 34,000 miles on it. Sold it two years later for $1400.00 with only 42,000 miles on it. Those were the days
Good Luck,

I got my project car, 1969 Firebird under a tarp on family property. I bought the car 9/10 years ago with a 350cc engine in it and a 400cc Pontiac engine on the side for a pretty good deal. I drove it home. At the time I had a working truck, good job and was between girlfriends; so I decided to restore it with my extra time and money. I took the 350 out and then met a girl the next day... Reflecting back now, I wonder if I drained the oil.. I am hoping that when mid life sets in I will have more gumption to finish the project.

Hey BB, those are pretty small engines for a car... are you sure you don't mean 350ci and 400ci??
