Looks like you have more than that on in your avatar picture?!
You can say what you want... ain't no way you have range perfect form at all times in the field.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
I actually "zone in" more for a hunting shot than during practice. By the time hunting season is in it should be automatic. While hunting, I have had to shoot from odd positions, squatting down, twisted to the right, etc. and the shots feel right. Its about grip and anchor first, if you can keep that consistant, all that is left is range estimation.

I have less on. I had a t-shirt and a jacket on in that picture. It was only October 18, it was 75 degrees in that picture. That buck was shot the day before, but with the same clothing on. That was my lucky jacket. It has since gone to the trash as it was 12 years old. I shoot as good on animals than I do on a bullseye. I'm not as good of a shot as Limbshot. Not even close. He will keep it in a 1 inch circle at 30 yards and I will keep it in a 4 inch circle. If I'm honed in, I can keep it in a 2 inch circle. But, I am more comfortable on an animal than I am on a target. I shoot a lot. Everyday from after turkey season until the season starts.

I never said you didn't shoot as good on an animal as you do at a target. I said there is no way you have range perfect form at all times in the field. I stand by my statement. There are just too many variables in the field that you don't have on the range.
I guess in your avatar picture it just looks like you have a heavy coat and bids on.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
I feel that if I shot any worse on an animal, then I wouldn't kill it. I will guarantee that I have as good of form on an animal as I do shooting at targets. In fact, probably better. I don't have perfect shooting form on targets and it shows. Every year, I go through a 2 week period where I torque the bow. Nowadays, I will creep some due to a poor valley and solid backwall on the Outback. In the past I have suffered from a bit of target panic, but not so much. Then, if I am not drilling tacks, I get pissed, keep shooting, and develop these bad habits to the extreme instead of laying the bow aside. By hunting time, I will be in my groove, however. I put too much pressure on myself on a target. That is why I don't shoot 3d. I don't like to shoot with other people or in groups as it makes me nervous. I have to be at one with the bow, the target, and the animal.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
Interesting reading. I didn't mention I also have a kisser button installed on the bowstring also. Since I "bottom out" the cam on every draw and have the kisser button, do you think I still need the peep too? I guess I never really thought about it...my friends set up their bow with the zero peep and the kisser button so I did the same. I'm just worried if I take the peep away that I will have good form and body alignment, but that my sight alignment might vary just enough to botch a deer shot (up to down).
I just hate to go to a totally new system since I can split arrows at 10 yards and keep a 4-inch grouping at 20 yards. Yet I am really sick of the peep since my patterned deer come around right around end of shooting time. Same thing with the bobcats. The system I have now works great on the range and for shooting during good light hours.
LS does have a point about more to think about. I currently have 3 pins- 15, 30 and 40. The 40 is really just for messing around on the 3-D range. I could probably go to one and have one less thing to worry about.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
Hobie, of course there are exceptions to every rule, but for the most part, all shots taken at live game should follow the form you have practiced with. Much Like PS, I clear shooting lanes so I don't have to duck, and animal coming from my extreme right, I will have to turn around on, if I can't, I won't shoot. With heavy winter clothing on, I make sure my clothing is not binding and is flexible enough for me to move freely, and shooting from a sitting position, never had to do that, for the most part, I try to stand as much as possible while on stand. Just so you know, the turkey I killed the last day of bow season, I was sitting on the ground, in my insulated coveralls, with my snow coveralls over that. I drew my bow easily (I always pull less weight than I know I can for ease of draw). I got my solid typical anchor, had my same grip on my bow, and I hit the turkey right where my pin was. IF you take the time to practice with your hunting clothes, and from different positions and postures, you can get well over 90% of your shots to the exact form you have practiced. If you are not taking shots with the form you practice all year, you are taking shots that may result in a wounded animal. Anytime you change anything in your form, be it anchor point, grip style, peep, no peep, even a different type of release, you will likely not hit the spot you are aiming for, even the slightest change can result in a poor shot. That is why it is so critical to try and get a very consistant form, and duplicate it on every shot. Oh, and I forgot, I will never shoot at a deer straight under my stand. I will take my chances on getting a shot once it has gone past me. A straight down shot is quite possibly the most difficult shot from a tree, I never practice it, and won't take a shot. There is nothing more important in archery than having a good rock solid form, and being able to duplicate that form on your shots.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
Depends, but if you practice to a point that drawing and shooting your bow is instinctive, no peep and one pin is a good combination for hunting. At least for me.
In respect for LS I will not repeat everything he already stated, if it says it. I pretty much agree.

Re: To Peep or To No-Peep?
I used a no-peep for two years, a few years back. Since then, I've had two bows with no peep in the string, just a kisser button, and without the No-Peep. For me, I used the NO-PEEP long enough that my form became very consistent. Since I don't use a peep, I get a few more minutes of being able to see my pins. The no-peep worked for me.
How come work always gets in the way of my bowhunting???????

That's what I was wondering. That extra few minutes makes a big difference on my place because they invariably walk by my stand right before end of shooting time.
