New string for next Bull Shoals outing
Mother Nature pulled a nasty one on us, so guess we'll try again next Saturday, Feb. 5th. Same time (7 am), same place (Wagon Wheel), the usual suspects.Hope everybody can make it. BB & I will prefish one day this week, and if we hit on a magical combination, nobody will know about it.

CW,
I think I will make it next week and try to pull along lakebumb. I got plenty of crappie now so I can concentrate on the eyes. Maybe the lake will be down more by then and the long range forcast doesn't look bad.

Re: New string for next Bull Shoals outing
BB said they were letting water out big time down in Arkansas, but not that much was going out of TR, so the lake was going down pretty quick. If that continues, should be in good shape by next weekend. You guys come on down and join in the festivities. Even if the ramp at Beaver is in good shape, we will probably launch out of River Run to avoid the lengthy run back up the river to where we will be fishing. By now, everybody knows the drill with breakfast at the Wagon Wheel. If you plan on fishing live bait, better get some before you come down. Bob's doesn't open until 9a.m....the bait business must be very, very good.

The long range forecast for next Saturday is partly cloudy and 53. If anything similar to that holds, I'll be there.

Re: New string for next Bull Shoals outing
You are correct,I bet the lake dropped a foot or more on saturday when we were out there.Hey,that sounds like a good excuse for not catching much.

At least you can begin to rule out "hillside" walleyes and resume fishing for "riverbed" walleyes. Tracy Turner, the weather gal on 33 just said it could snow up this way today.

Walleyes harvested by any method out of Stockton do not count for the pot at Bull Shoals...but good luck to you anyway. If you find 'em, let us know. The Express needs some fresh air if I don't get stuck in KC next week.
And welcome aboard to "walleyesrus"...as Duncan McCloud would say,"In the end, there can be only one."..glad to have you join us, Lee.

P.D. is there something that you are not telling us about the fishing report for Stockton?????Why would you go to Stockton when the walleyes are not to be found in B.S.,fill us in on the hotspots.

CW - If you guys go to seine some river minnows before the next outing, let me know where and when and I'll help you.
I'm surprised you drive so far to get them out of the Finley. Aren't there good minnows in Little Sac or Big Sac up your way? Anyway, the Finley is real close to me, so lemme know.

I'll be there Sat. if I don't end up going out of town, although Stockton would be much easier. I did get one last Sat at B.S. but we will be fishing a new lake Sat.

Re: New string for next Bull Shoals outing
Ozark....I go down to the Finley because Billy lives real close to it. Since it is a considerable number of miles, I try to combine the seining with a trip to BPS or other business. As far as the Sac(s) are concerned, that's a good ride over to the west for me. What I do have is the Pomme de Terre River about 4 miles away, with a feeder creek called Hominy Creek about a mile and a half away.
Hominy has some pretty nice slicks in it, and they are never bothered, so I got a ten foot roll of hardware cloth in 1/4" grid, maybe a little bit smaller and will be stitching up a four foot cylinder the same diameter as one of the black minnow traps sold in Wal Mart. I will put one half at each end, wrap it in place with wire, and voila! Instant large capacity minnow trap. I plan on baiting it with dry cat or dog food pieces and checking it a couple of times a day until it stops being productive. I can carry the trap down to the creek on the back of my 4 wheeler, then bring the captured slicks back in a cooler lashed to the cargo rack. The first four or five dozen can go in my tank...the rest will be released in my small pond to multiply and make new slicks. Is that a plan, or what???
Since we got some more nice ones last time we seined and didn't use any over the weekend, I think we will have enough to share this coming weekend, but if we go seining again, will let you know. Billy has a 20 footer, and I have a 20 footer, but if we had somebody to hold the poles together in the middle, that's still two separate seines that are not connected, but essentially a continuous net long enough to keep the quick little mothers from swimming around the ends before we can get the net ashore. We lose a lot of the best ones that way. Once they escape, there's no catching them again that day. Also, with three guys, that ups the number of minnows we could legally keep. You will need a pair of chest waders unless you like a very, very cold walk in the water.

I was able to trap about three dozen slicks in a couple creeks above beaver. Hope they are still alive when I get down ther next weekend. Left them under aeration at my lake house.

Mrs. AA says she is tired of me not bringing home the bacon, so she is coming this Saturday so that we will have something to fry that night!
Also, anyone that doesn't have their 5 bucks in the big fish pot better do it soon, they got to get hungry sometime!
