Opening morning

Post by sharps4590 » May 28th, 2005, 11:37 am

Here it is 9:35 AM and I'm back to the house with a cleaned limit of squirrels. All head shots but one, and it would have been but he was facing different than I thought, and all with the 36 flintlock. Wonderful morning to be in the woods after the rain last night. How did anyone else do?

Good job. Image

I never used a 36 flinter, but I did use a 36 caplock for a while. It adds a lot more to the hunt than a scoped 22 or 20g.
The Doctor said I should drink more whiskey. Also, I'm calling myself 'The Doctor' now.

doniphan...they are just lousy here. I went out Monday morning and got 4 more....but not with 4 shots this time, took 7 as I missed 3, but the 4 I got were all head shots! I figured Saturday morning was a once a year deal....probably won't shoot that good again. There were 6 on the bird feeders again this morning the wife told me.

Caplocks are great fun too. I still have one I hunted with for years before I went to flint. I wouldn't hesitate to take it again if the flint weren't so much more fun for me.
