Tourney dates for 2006
In an effort to avoid warm water tourneys this is what I propose for approx dates for next year. Late April, Bull Shoals Beaver, mid to late May Norfork, mid June Stockton, September Stockton. Mid to late october, Bull Shoals, Theodosia. Let me know what you think.

Is there any particular reason you don't do an off season LOZ??

Either Labor day weekend or the weekend after. We will no longer change our schedule to cater to them, if they want to wait till the last minute to announce dates people will have to make a coice of where to fish.

It's about time we did a middle-of-the-state tourney, don'tcha think? After all, this ain't the Arkansas Walleye Association...
And what about the Mississippi?

Mark Twain would not be a bad choice either. Although I know that is a long drive for a lot of you.
The Mississippi River is murder with boat traffic. Makes Lake of the Ozarks look like a quiet pond! Although a December Mississippi would be interesting. A lot of 'eyes and saugers that time of the year.

Re: Tourney dates for 2006
Gotta go with the meat man on this one, we have enough marginal fisheries around here to not need to search for other marginal fisheries, just my opinion not the mwaa's. That said I would probably go anywhere anyone wants to put the legwork in to set up accomodations and round up sponsors, the mississippi in the winter would be cool Johnson and I have talked about that but with the current officers being located in soutwest mo its easier for us to set up tourneys here. We had requests from members to look at Norfork and we did, same with theodosia, if anyone wants to try to set one up elsewhere get in touch with Johnson and it would be considered. The usfa tried one on truman and no fish were caught.Probably only had a few boats, I prefished it and gave up, I already had the championship made, only problem was the championship never happened.

Yeah, MM, I know. I just thought it was funny that a state association would hold an event outside the state. Guess it worked out, though.
LOZ and Truman have some monsters, too. And they're centrally located. Lotta guys from the KC and St. Louis areas who fish every tourney have had to travel a purty fur piece each time. They're kind of at a disadvantage...

Easy for me to say, of course--I don't have to do the setup work, never even think about it in fact. Good point, Lee.
Although I do like the Mississippi winter idea...

Mississippi River in December would be great. The Duck hunting is good that time of year.
Double hitter: Walleye Tournament / Duck Hunt

Re: Tourney dates for 2006
You would probably want to fish those lakes before recommending them. Truman has one big flat that everyone fishes, sound familiar. LoZ has a run below the dam but you can't fish most of that from a boat. Not familiar with Mark Twain but the miss. is a definate possibility.I don't mean to sound cranky but there is no question the three lake in mo with the greatest populations of walleye are Stockton, B.S. and norfork. Unfortunately the best facilities for fishing two of those lakes are in arkansas. If I wanted to go to travel to other locations to fish I'd go to Kansas.
