Post by walleyesrus » June 28th, 2005, 10:04 pm

Whats everybodys guess on what It'll take to win Stockton? I'm guessing 18 lbs on any given day and 32 lbs overall. Image Image Image

You think it is gonna be that much better than the last few years? I'm thinking closer to 12# a day.

With the # of short fish showing up recently, I'm guessing 11 lbs. could win it both days for a total of about 22-23 lbs. at best. There will probably be lots of 6lb. to 8 lb. weights due to the large # of hammer handles(15-16 inchers) in the lake. The biologist has said that 90 % of the walleyes in the lake are 15 inches or greater, but I would bet 80 % of those 90 % are 15 to 16 inch fish !

No way Jose on those weights to win the tournament at Stockton. Too much weight. Heck, that would be an MWAA record (again), breaking the one we just set at Bull in May(34 lbs.). This lake is NOT like Bull Shoals or even Norfork. Not many BIG fish ever come in during a tournament. I've seen a 2 1/2 lb. fish win the BIG Walleye Pot. The past is a key to the future. This said, there are few fish over 4 1/2 lbs. that have ever come in to a Stockton MWAA weigh-in, thus, 10-12 lb. Day 1 and 8-10 lbs. Day 2 for a total of 21-22 lbs. should win this one. This should give the majority of the field a shot at being in the money. The key is getting a kicker fish(3-4 lbs.) or two. Lots of shorts are showing up on the lines, but the fishing is Excellent for walleyes right now up there! It is a tournament worth experiencing. Next year it will be in June for sure.

8.5 on day one, 11 on day two, for a two-day total of 19.5...

Catch 2 larger fish, you're in like Flint!

Mike, the winning weight last year was 24 lbs. for both days. I would expect at best a repeat of that for this year's tournament. Probably a pound or two or three less will win it this year. But, you never know, 26 or 27 could come in, but I'm betting against it.

Yeah, I know. We weighed 4 fish over 21" last year. I think we may not see quite as many larger fish this year, though, due to population dynamics. There'll be lots of limits, but the kicker fish will be harder to come by. That'll keep the weights down.

Day 1: six fish, 12.75 lbs
Day 2: six fish, 11.4 lbs.
Two separate team winners, Day One winners will barely hold on to win First Place overall. CW's prediction is based on stable weather. If a strong storm front blows through, who knows what will happen.

After fishing stockton this weekend I'll readjust my guess to 3 lbs per day. Caught 1 keeper in two days fishing.

Oh Oh Image, I hope that is NOT a sign of things to come this weekend. I will still stay with 22-23 lbs. to win it all. Somebody will get into them, rest assured. Otherwise, we will be breaking ties to break ties on six fish limits with the dinks(15 inchers) coming to the weigh-in. I hope things change this week. I think at least the weather will be stable after Monday of this week.

Day one was 21.6 lbs. Day two was 14 lbs. Overall total was about 29 lbs. Pretty impressive for Stockton!
