Two of us endured the heat for 3 hours and put 25 keepers, 9-12 inchers in the livewell. Crappie were down 14-18 feet and preferred jigs tipped with minnows. fished outside treeline along main channel. Bite very lite, caught about 80 before getting back to the boatramp with some engine problems that were severe. Looking at a new engine, broken oil line the cause of the damage.

Thanks for the report Bruce, headed back that way this weekend. Sorry to hear about the engine, you could some teach me to fish on Friday or Saturday since you are boatless.

fishin, would be glad to teach on Saturday. Baot dealer said 30 seconds without oil is enough to cause problems! I idled for about 5 minutes back to the ramp, but it shut down initially and damage was done. piston #2 had about 30% compression and sounds like gravel in the motor. Other two pistons are fine. Will sell the 92 Mercury 90HP for best offer on e-bay, when i get new one hung. Great parts motor or someone with a good #2 can make it go, first time other than plugs and minor maintenance with the engine, almost 1500 hours on it. But fishing was decent, and keeper fish are there to be had, just need to fish where they are. Bruce, PS Dave, it got too hot without lube and damage occured.

You buying a new engine? 1500 hours is nothing to cry about with minor maintenance.

Boat problems suck.



I had mine out Thursday night, and the trim control switch on my throttle arm shorted out. Now anytime the motor is hooked to the battery, the trim goes all of the way up on its own, with nobody touching the control switch.



It's a $2-3 switch, but I have to wait 1.5 weeks for a new part to come in. None of the local boat shops have a switch that will fit the control arm.

I don't know. I have a 90hp evenrude, and am still trying to find a match outside of having to order it from evenrude/aries. It's about a $2-3 dollar rocker switch, but the down time is what's killing me.

dave, it is a common part, I have replaced a couple over the years, most dealers carry them, but there is usually two switches and up and down switch. Try a couple of evinrude dealers, one should carry those they are common needed items.

They have it, but the $2-3 switch costs $44. I tell ya, they know when they have you by the short and curlies.

I have the throtle arm/control box off and stripped down, ready for the new switch. I'm just glad I found someone who had it in stock. My wife works this weekend, and it was going to be too much free time at my disposal to not get out on the lake. I just have to solder in the new switch and put it back together.
