I'll let you sit in my driveway during gun season if worse comes to worst. Bring your .22 and plenty of tags, it'll be a hoot.

Well, what made that rack score like it did was the fact that all 10" of deductions were off of the left mainbeam. Like I said, initially, I thought it was a good 8 pointer when it was walking sideways to me.

That's the problem, he is a great buck, regardless of how symmetrical he is! Scoring is quanatative BS solely for braggin' rights. Mine more symmetrical than yours, who cares. Deductions are BS. Gross score all the way.

What should only matter, and be measured is the amount of adrenaline you had right before and after that shot. heck PS you can even add the additional rush for follow up shots, when he jumped up and said... Later, sucker. Been there, done that. Image

You can't have a P&Y or B&C without the books. I haven't entered either of my qualifiers, but I believe there needs to be some line for bragging P&Y, MO Bucks, or B&C. There are personal trophies etc, but a line needs to be made somewhere.

All I am saying it is a good baseline. I do not agree that net is far and above gross inches. To me its about gross antler growth. Where did I contridict ?

I will likey kill a doe or (hopefully) two with my bow, a doe with my gun that I will donate to share the harvest. I will shoot a buck with my bow or gun only if its bigger than that one I have on the wall.

Thats is basically what I did last year, I had very limited time in the woods, took a doe with gun and bow, then plain the waiting game for a good buck.

Here is where I have a problem with scoring a rack. First of all, let's say you ran into the problem I had last year. All 10" of deductions were on the same darn side of the rack. Not 0.5" here, 0.5" there like is generally the case. But, everything was on the same dang side. So, if column 1 was 20", column 2 was 60", and column 3 was 50", That would give a gross score of 130". But, you have to subtract an additional 10" which makes it 120". Now, he isn't getting that 10" to begin with for goodness sakes, so how can you subtract it off? That one side is the difference between a 140" deer and a 120" deer. Or, in my case, 158" deer and a 138" deer. 148" is a nice number to satisfy the discrepency. That is a prime example of an animal not getting due credit for inches of antler.

Dang IL buck, 132" gross, 122" net. Now that deer had a rack that had 130" written all over it. But deductions gave me the shaft again.
