Found a huge shed Saturday

Post by DH_72 » September 19th, 2005, 5:48 pm

Found the biggest shed I've ever found Saturday. Has 5 points on the one side. Mice have eaten the tips, but the brown tine is still 7 inches, probably 7 1/2 - 8 inches before chewed off. Its a super massive antler, really heavy. How do I get it scored? Just find a scorer around here somewhere or what. Any of you guys know how to score them?

I'll score it, how big do you want it to be?

I think it woulda scored at least 150, probably more, w/ the whole rack on him. You can tell there wasn't much of a spread, but the mass woulda more than made up for that.

If it was me, I'd ask PS to score it for me... he's pretty good at that stuff and such. I don't know iffin he would do it or not.

Print that out and follow directions for the side you have. Post up the score of the one side.

Congrats DH. Just follow that scoring sheet Dave-T sent you. It's pretty easy + take it to the deer classic.

I followed the sheet Dave put the link up to and did it. It got a score of 67. So by the time you add the other side, spreads, and the parts that were chewed off, hard telling what it woulda scored. Thanks for the link Dave. I'll take to the deer classic also.

Great find. They don't last long around here, the squirrels and mice eat them up pretty quick.

That is a super buck! 152" or so if both sides match and with a typical 18" spread. Image

Apparently I'm gonna have a good shed dog too. My lab loves the antler. I'll ask him where the antler is and he'll find it pretty quick. It'll be fun to take him out in Feburary and see if he can find any at the farm.

They can be real good for that. The dogs at my parents place brought home 8 sheds in one year. Most were little, but they brought home the otehr half to an 8 point shed we had found that was pretty impressive. P and Y easy!!! It's always cool finding sheds.
