It's Never Too Soon....

Post by Duck Me Runnin » February 25th, 2006, 12:00 pm

To start thinkin' about a potential date for this year's Summer get together.

After talkin' to a couple of the folks on here, the dates of 6/24 & 6/25 kept popping up. It's after Father's day, but before the 4th, and the dog days of July and August.

If we're going to do it, we might as well start thinking about it. Besides, there ain't a helluva lot else happening on here.

Thoughts ? Ideas ? Pies to throw ? Image

MOCraig,
At the present time, planning drinkin' affairs IS my job ! Image

You're not exempt. You could eat yourself into a coma at one of these deals. In the past, they've been attended by drinkers, non-drinkers, wives, kids, dogs, and unidentifiable infiltrators. Image

Besides, the weather has to break before I stand a good chance of making some serious money. ( my version of serious ) Image

If you'd like to have it in my backyard, we can do that. Otherwise, I won't be there.

Rafe, not intending to hijack this thread, how did your wife's business do during the Valentine day? We were absolutely swamped with deliveries, but we had to deliver all over the area and that included driving a lot of miles...My friends shop is the only one that delivers and takes in wire orders.
That's funny you don't look Druish.

Rafe,
That's a danm fine offer, but you're a bit off of the "centrally located " mark. Image

I'll throw out the weekend of June 10/11.
17/18 is Fathers Day.
24/25 would work but is within 10 days of the 4th of July.

That's exactly why I brought this up now, Swamp. The more people that are involved, the more opinions there will be. Image

Then there is the "where" question.
I can get the permit for Diggs if we want to do it there again.

Triton, we did fine. I was the driver dispatcher/tracker/organizer. It made for 2 long days, but things went pretty smooth. We had 3 screw-ups out of about 250 orders. Two of those were not our fault at all. The one that was our fault, went in the customer's favor. All things considered, we were very happy with it.

Now, Mrs. Hollister has a deal worked out with one of the funeral homes in town (Simpson) and that's turning out to be pretty profitable. Things have gone well enough that she's paid herself the past 3 weeks in a row. For her, that's a miracle.

DMR, the problem with "centrally located" is that a lot of us aren't centrally located. I'd make it to every one of these things if it wasn't a 4 hr. drive to Columbia. Every time I take a business trip of some sort, I manage to meet up with some of you knuckledraggers, though.

Swamp Fox, unless someone has another place with a pavillion, Diggs once again gets my vote. It's good shade, and even more valuable in a thunderstorm. Image

Rafe,
I understand. Though the fact remains that anything other than " central ", is a disadvantage to more people that not.

I know it sucks for the folks that reside near the corners, but I don't know what to do about it.
