Chit, Flake.... they were thicker than the squirrels in my back yard when the pecans are falling. Not sure you can call that hunting... kinda like fishing in a barrel.

Yes they are thick out there, I've hunted up around Gillette, and down around Lusk, Wyoming.

Tigerhaze, where in central Montana were you? I hunted mule deer in the Missouri River Breaks area not far from Great Falls (near Ft. Benton, if I recall correctly) back in the '80s. Great hunting, spectacular scenery, virtually no people around. I wonder if it has changed much since then...

I was based both in Helena and Great Falls, but I have hunted the Breaks before. Fort Benton is awesome- I was looking at some property there a couple of years ago. I'd love to get drawn for elk in CMR, but chances for a nonresident (or even a MT resident) are better to win Powerball.

I've shot muleys out near Stanford and antelope out near Winnett. It probably hasn't changed a whole lot, although opening weekends for antelope and muley hunting were a little busy with hunters from Great Falls. Like I said, I considered moving out there. I had a good job lined up there which is not easy to find. Then again I have some nice property here close to Truman. Once the KC area and western MO gets overrun like the eastern part of the state, I may reconsider it.

Roscoe Dog, there isn't much out there but a couple things can affect rooms. It is the tourist season for trips to Yellowstone, and there aren't many rooms to begin with. The coal companies sometimes book up the rooms if they have an event, and depending on the date next month you could be getting close to the Bike Rally.

That is my Dad Snowy.

I may post a couple more later. LA had a 17" rainbow that was a beauty.
