That's how I eneded up laying one down.
Still have the scar on my shoulder from sliding to a stop on the gravel. Would have lost an ear and lots of hair but the helmet took that abuse.

I have my share of scars from my younger days. I wiped out more times than I can remember, and was hit by a truck when I was 14.



I solved that problem by getting a bike that has 4 wheels, hauls decoys, deer carcasses, coolers of beer, and 5 wader-clad hunters at once. Oh yeah, I stay the fork off of public roads whenever I get the chance.

You know there are a thousand horror stories behind motorcycles. And it's just up to the person to take the risk or not. Truth is you can die in a car, on a plane, or fall off your deck and break your neck, same with bikes, but you are upping your odds getting on one.

I made the conscious choice to just stop riding.

I grew up on dirt bikes, and then I grew into them. I competitively raced hare scrambles and enduros for years. I rode in lots of places from the Rockies, to the Ozarks. I got beat up lots of times, broken ribs, concussions, and so on. I've seen lots of blood and broken bones especially on the motocross tracks. I even lost a few friends. I dabbled in street bikes just long enough to call it quits when it came to the pavement. It wasn't for fear, because I've never been scared of a bike, ever. I took more chances than 95 percent of riders and there isn't anything I wouldn't try once. I realized that if I killed myself, that was okay, if someone else did, it wasn?t. And I don?t care who you are, when you are on a bike and on the road, you cannot control your surroundings. It?s an impossible task. You can be alert and that might save you a few times, but it won?t forever.

But, I can sympathize with everyone that loves being on a bike, there is no feeling like climbing a 200 foot hill to steep to even walk up, or jumping a 60 foot tabletop, and nothing on earth compares to pulling a 120mph wheelie and then dropping it and taking it to 160mph

Wow, I just finished the same trip though not quite that far west. We only made it to Devils Tower, Wyoming. We do have a few hundred pictures though.

I saw a show on Yellowstone before we left, that said some buffalo die every year from CO2 poisoning.

I know we saw several buffalo staying around the mud spouts. It seemed as if they wanted to be there, something drawing them in there next to the fumes.
