I enjoy a cold beer every now & then. I'll even have a whiskey & Coke sometimes. However, I will never be drunk or high. I have never used an illegal drug. When people choose to be drunk or high, they are willingly losing their ability to reason properly. If they do so in a public setting, the appropriate law enforcement organization has every right (and the responsibility) to arrest them to keep them from being a danger to themselves & others. That person has no right to bi+ch about "pigs" or "possum cops" or any other legitimate LEO picking on them or not concentrating their efforts in the appropriate arena.

I used to like whiskey a bit too much. That's pretty much why I don't do much these days. A couple blackouts and hearing the bad stories of what went on, made me not want to get that out of control any more.

I'm not saying any of it is good, but alcohol can lead to the worst kind of "out of control" that I've been exposed to.

Tigerhaze - Excellent!! I saw that in yesterday's KC paper. LO is a health hazard. There is no reason to have the size of boats on an inland lake that exist on Lake Ozark, but it will never change now. They have missed their opportunity to enact some sort of restrictions on the lake. More people are killed on Lake O every year than on ALL float rivers combined, I believe, .....yet the float rivers are considered worthy of WP's time and manpower?? Image Image

I like seeing naked titties on the river as much as the next dude....but I also understand that when those type of things happen it makes it tough to have a "family" oriented float. Where's the middle ground?

MoC - Keep your "scientific" studies to themselves. Studies are like stats, you can make them say what you want. There's just as many studies showing that THC isn't harmful. In fact, drug companies are now working on a THC drug to be given to those that now smoke pot for it's benefits. It's illegal for a dude to grow in his backyard, but the drug companies can make millions off the exact same effects. Go figure.

Nicotine and alcohol are the 2 most dangerous/detrimental drugs to American population and they are legal.

90 acres - I believe those things have warnings on them that they aren't for people over a certain age and/or weight. They are there for a reason....trust me, I learned my lesson the hard way too and Crown wasn't even involved!! Image

Tobacco expected to kill 1 billion this century
Smoking accounts for 1 in 5 cancer deaths, new reference guides report
Updated: 12:05 a.m. CT July 10, 2006
WASHINGTON - If current trends hold, tobacco will kill a billion people this century, 10 times the toll it took in the 20th century, public health officials said Monday.

Tobacco accounts for one in five cancer deaths, or 1.4 million deaths worldwide each year, according to two new reference guides that chart global tobacco use and cancer. Lung cancer remains the major cancer among the 10.9 million new cases of cancer diagnosed each year, according to the Cancer Atlas.

Reducing tobacco use would have the greatest affect on global cancer rates, health officials said. Improving nutrition and reducing infection by cancer-causing viruses and bacteria could also cut rates dramatically, they said.

?We know with cancer, if we take action now, we can save 2 million lives a year by 2020 and 6.5 million by 2040,? said Dr. Judith Mackay, a World Health Organization senior policy adviser.

The new Cancer Atlas and updated Tobacco Atlas were released Monday at a International Union Against Cancer conference. The American Cancer Society published the two atlases with help from the Union, WHO and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

?Even if Imageg rates decline worldwide, there will be a constant or even slightly increasing number of smokers due to population increases,? said Michael Eriksen, director of the Institute of Public Health at Georgia State University.

An estimated 1.25 billion men and women smoke cigarettes now, according to the Tobacco Atlas.

Oh yeah, pot is MUCH more dangerous then the legal drug called nicotine. Image Image

Hobbs - Yeah, the horse is definitely stanking the place up. It is interesting to see the twists and turns this thread took all from the posting of checkpoint results! Image

It never was a fight about the hazards of drugs, just about the laws, and some folks recoiling to them trying to justify there own ideals.
