Don't know where they went
Got to the Tick Farm at 5:30 Saturday evening. Hunted hard until Noon Monday. Didn't see a turkey.

Re: Don't know where they went
Turkey hunting in the fall isn't about sitting on your donkey and waiting. Those birds can flat travel in the fall. That is why I will generally hunt public land during the fall so that I can cover tons of ground to find them. Come to think of it, turkey hunting in the spring isn't about sitting on your donkey and waiting either.

Re: Don't know where they went
PS is right about the fall. I have been seeing turks all over my place until last Friday. Then they disappeared. The best way is to put them on roost the night before, go back an hour later and scatter the flock for the night. We shine a light when they flush and try to pinpoint the middle of the spread. go back early in the morning, get in the middle of the spread and listen to the boss hen do the assembly call and mimick her. That's how we have had our best success in the fall. My .02 worth on that one.
Re: Don't know where they went
Don't have to be at night rainbow....if you can't get up on em....try to break the flock up even if it is in the middle of the day...find a way to do it without being too obvious...but break them up....within an hour the birds will start coming back to find the flock. You aint gonna kill the smartest one that way...but the dumb ones taste just like the smart ones.

Re: Don't know where they went
I killed two of them over the weekend. One that walked by my elevated stand Friday evening while I talked to my wife on my cell phone, and the second one Saturday afternoon while I was easing through a creek bottom--I shot that one out of the air after they took off, like duck hunting. The birds are out there, you just need to get out, cover some ground, and find 'em...

Nope, shotgun...
Re: Don't know where they went
I busted a tom yesterday. Pouring down rain and saw birds all over the place.
Re: Don't know where they went
Nope, killed that one with the shotgun, too. I'd forgotten my release so I couldn't bowhunt.
