Re: Doubled up!
The call I was using is the Real Cutter four reeds by Ozark Ridge Calls out of Lebanon, Missouri. I have had very good success this fall calling in gobblers with this call. It just sounds like a raspy old gobbler.

Re: Doubled up!
That`s pretty awesome, LS. This should make you the leader in the clubhouse for next year`s MOTY.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

Re: Doubled up!
Come on 170, it was just a fornicating doe. But, the calling in of a gobbler and whacking it, that does give the guy some credibility. Also, since he has already taken a bird previously, that gives him a leg up. If he kills a decent buck, then I'll be his campaign manager. But, for now, he only has a couple of brownie points in my book. Okay, so he is leading right now. I'll give you that. But, when 2B comes in here with one of his 130-140" deer, he officially takes over.

Re: Doubled up!
Ouch, you wanna remove the knife from my back!!! Here is the deal, how many deer over 120 have you and 2B taken with a bow? How many mature gobblers have you taken with a bow? So honestly, which one is more difficult? Especially from a treestand, not a ground blind. Just kiddin'. I truly was a little more fired up over the gobbler than the doe though. I guess I will just have to whack a good buck, I think you'd be a heck of a campaign manager...and such!

Re: Doubled up!
I don't know the answer to that LS. But, I can tell you that I have only killed one turkey with a bow and that is it. Truth is, I do feel it is more difficult to kill a turkey with a bow than it is to kill a 120" deer. Now, to call in a fall gobbler is difficult to do. To whack one with a bow, that is an even bigger deal. I would rather whack a big gobbler than a 120" deer I believe. So, I will give you some credit. Now, you might feel otherwise as it seems you whack the heck out of turkeys and can't kill poopoo for deer.

I shot a gobbler in the fall with a bow a few years back, while I was on the ground, without a blind. Shot him at 7 yards...they don't call me the great white hunter for no reason.

Re: Doubled up!
Dang PS, that hurts. The good news is, when I do shoot a deer, I find it about an hour later, not a month or so later
. I have had a pretty bad run on good bucks lately though. Hoping that will change this year. Snowflake, I firmly believe it is easier to kill a turkey from the ground with a bow than from a tree. So what you did is no big deal. I have to agree with Mocraig. Anytime your name has been mentioned, peter shark has followed, I have never heard great white hunter and you in the same paragraph.

Sometimes they refer to Snowflake as the white china-man. That has white in it anyway.
Usually when people are talkin bout me they call me "Big dick daddy" or say something like, "hobiecat... damm he's cool!"

You must be still suffering from that falling in the bathtub disease you caught here a week or so ago.
Bald-headed, fat, and ugly are three words that come to mind when folks are discussing the Hobster.

Mocraig, yes I am still using a 2001 Darton Maverick. Every year I say I am going to get something new, then I go out and shoot it, and end up keeping it one more year. It is still a shooting SOB!
