If they had any turkeys, that would sort of be like my yard.

That is the biggest crock of chit! (not directed at you LA)

Rose smelled some almonds in my pocket so I gave her a few. We gave some almonds to her family a few other times but stopped the practice when advised that feeding deer is illegal.

My donkey! You fellas ever known of a wild deer to just walk up to a person? Now she may have lured the deer time and time again 'til it finely gained confidence... but the story of her just bein out in the back yard with almonds in her pocket one day and the deer just comin up out of the blue is bullchit.

We gave some almonds to her family a few other times but stopped the practice when advised that feeding deer is illegal. Even so, that didn't stop them from regular visits. Rose and her kin obviously think the yard belongs to them as much as anyone else, and they are just taking advantage of the wealth of natural foods growing everywhere.
They only stopped feeding them by hand (which BTW, is a forkin lie... as apparent by the pictures). That "pyramid" looks an awful lot like a feeder to me.

Food is of course a major concern, but we also think they visit because they like our company.

Quit feedin'em and see how long that chit lasts.

All of the deer are likely to lay down on the grass and hang out , whether we know them well or not. Many of them know us personally , and while often running into the yard to greet us with their quiet enthusiasm, they will also swiftly shy away from strangers. Although notoriously skittish, able to leap meters in the air in an instant when startled, a few deer we know, most notably Eva and her kids, will let us touch them as if we were family , letting us scratch them or pick something out of their fur. Eva even enjoys a hearty backrub!
This is a typical PETA freak attempt to humanize a stupid animal. Remember how Timothy Treadwell was "friends" with the bears??

Stupid-azz, hippy-freak, PETA propaganda is all that is.

Whoa, Hobie. I meant the pics were cool. I didn't even read the propaganda. Like I give a chit. I thought the pics were neat. I'm sure the people are PETA-ish.

And your point about ceasing to feed would eventually change their proximity to the humans... is probably correct. The same is prolly true of my turks out back. Difference is I don't name them and chit. I just like to see em run up to me. I think being close to animals is awesome. Something wrong with that?

I was talking about the article in general, LA. I must have been typing while you made your post. My rant was not directed at you in anyway... unless of course, you start naming your turkeys. Image

Fella's, if one deer goes for the bait, almonds, path, etc. the rest will follow eventually. It takes one trusting deer, and then the next thing you know, it's 4-5yrs later and you've got a herd that doesn't see fear becuase all of the deer that would know to stear clear are dead of old age and gone, and the non-fearful deer have never lived any other way. If a fawn eats a front yard rose bush, it'll do it it's whole life, and never act like it is anything but perfectly normal.

Either that, or the hippies blew wacky tobaccy smoke at 'em so long that the deer got the munchies.
