OK, get serious for a minute and post if you are coming or not. The location will prolly be the one fish suggested. August 18th with an 9 or so am departure, unless you want to launch early. At this point I am in and sounds like roscoe, fish and dmr are too. Let's get a count and then figure out the vittles.

It would be worth the money just for the pleasure of drinking a beer with ME.

Just keep yelling FISH and when you get an answer thats him. Other people will just think you are seeing a fish.

First of all, I'd like to thank those that performed my "serious consideration" for me. Image Image

Fish, you know me better than that. I ain't about to paint a whiskerfish with the same brush I'd use for a duck. Image

Truth be told, I'd mostly show up to see everybody, and have a good time. ( which would happen, fish, or no fish )

Unless anniversary plans toss a wrench into the gears, I'll be there.

BTW,

I think a few bank lines should be set on Sat. evening, and checked early Sun' morning. Image

We're probably 50/50 at this point, as I've promised bait catcher we'd hit the state fair Saturday. It will depend on what the general itenerary is going to be. If it's noodling Saturday only and camping, then packing up Sunday we probably won't be able to make it. But if you all are going to be playing around Sunday and we can get back to JC area before dark and get taxi service to the sandbar we can probably make it down later Saturday evening for some bank fishing and noodling on Sunday. Y'all decide and then we'll make it if we can.

I'm going to try and make this. My only holdup is that I am working days, nights, and weekends right now to complete a major project at work. It should be done by then, so I would think it would work out.

If it works out, I would be able to bring my river boat and a fair amount of camping/cooking gear as needed. Fishing gear and frosty beverages go without saying.

Going on the river tomorrow and Sunday and we'll make a close inspection of the place. Oh and listen for train noise also. Image Image Image

fish - The way I figure it, train noise is a plus...it helps to drown out PS's bullchit! Image

Checked out the island again yesterday and it looks good to go. Good bank fishing to be had off the lower end and lots of drift wood for camp fires. Need to get there in the AM to stake a claim cuz if it is a sunny day the "scenery" starts showing up about noon Image Much better up here than NH, scenery that is ImageThere were 6 parties(not the throwdown types) on the island yesterday. Didn't look like any were camping out tho Image

ODF - Train noise insufficient. I'll bring duct tape Image

Oh Catfish were biting good on crawlers and shad. That is all.

fish, how deep are you running the jug lines up there? Are the hotdogs being productive?

Only ran them a couple of times so far but we'll floating them again sometime this week. Been catching eater sized blues on hot dogs but I'd rate it slow. R&R fishing has been excellent. Got two stagings on the noodles, 3' and 5' deep. Don't seem to make any difference to the fish tho. Image

How are you setting up the rods? Are you anchoring and fishing on the bottom or just floating and tightlining at a set depth?
