Montec Broadheads

Post by Budman » October 8th, 2007, 2:53 pm

Anyone using them??? A guy was trying to get me to switch today saying they fly really true. I have no idea.

Looking for any feedback, good or badl. I'll even take idiotic replies from hoMOcraig or some silly story about how PS shot a deer with one and found it 6 weeks later...
I'm gonna get my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames!!!! Alright, Alright, Alright

They are an awesome head, imo. I killed a little 8pt I think in the '04 season with them, that was heart shot at 14yds, and he never reacted to the shot. He hopped a bit at the bow noise, looked around, and continued down the same trail at a walk.

They did shoot true, but had a bit of a hiss in flight. They don't seem really sharp, but are easy enough to sharpen, although the 60 degree design only lets you get so far. They penetrate very well by design. I would be using them this year, but I gave my 6 to my father inlaw because he was looking for a good shooting fixed head. (He just happened to shoot the first one in practice into the woods never to be seen again. Image )

Anyway, I think they are a great head, and would wish I had them back if my slick tricks weren't shooting so good right now.

BM, I switched to them last year and they do really fly true.

MoC, since you are the "expert" on this, what kind of damage do they do. I didnt get to go much last year, and didnt get to nail anything with them.

I had a thick blood trail on the deer I shot with them. He was bleeding so well that his front legs were soaked in blood down to his hooves.

That means if I can get them to tune and work good, then anybody should be able to.

I have been using them the last couple seasons. Even shot a turkey in the head with them last fall. The muzzy's do just a good a job. One difference is they are a solid piece design. I know that with the muzzy's I might break a blade now and again. I have yet to damage a montec blade.
