I went out and checked a few spots today and one of the spots surprised me. There is barely any ground cover and no trees are leafing out, though many are budding. Yet there they were hugging a sapling for warmth.
Another week and there should be good hunting in Mid-Missouri.
I can't hardly believe that. I'm still feelin' lucky if we get up in the 50's for high temps and the lows are still in the mid to upper 30's most nights.
Good find.
The Doctor said I should drink more whiskey. Also, I'm calling myself 'The Doctor' now.
They have been popping for weeks here in Mid-MO. These last few weeks I've been picking by the gallon. Over 1200 for the season and still picking strong.
I found bunches of fresh greys in my early picking spots in West-Central MO; however the cold snap over the weekend shut them off. I'm betting they're back on this week with the warmer weather but am stuck at work.
A former co-worker on the Kansas side of the KC metro area has been having similar luck. Sounds like they're popping up better in southern and eastern parts of the state but I think everywhere is having a better than average year.
