Nicely done Keith. Is that a Missouri or Illinois deer?
Any idea when you guys will be done with all that "fancy editing?" Love to see the final product.

That 1st picture does make the deer appear to be about 115, but I can assure you he is more like 125. Here is a better picture to show the rack. I slid out of my stand and snuck up on this buck in a crp field to kill him. One of the most exciting hunts of my life.

Much better pic. If you guys don't get that video out soon it'll be dated by the equipment your carrying.Keith@AimLow wrote:That 1st picture does make the deer appear to be about 115, but I can assure you he is more like 125. Which Bowtech are you shooting? I see your also shooting the Hindsight...obviously it's working for you but do you think it's as accurate as a peep?

Re: Smitty, if you wouldn't mind.
I was in IL Dave.
I shot the deer with a Bowtech General. I absolutely think the hindsight is as accurate as a peep..for me it works better because I shoot with my eye very close to the string which requires me to use a very small peep to be effective. I don't like that for low light.
Dave..did you hunt Georges this past weekend? If so, how was it?

Re: Smitty, if you wouldn't mind.
I saw bucks trolling alone and no does. Pretty decent, but never saw a really good one.
George's cousin Steve was up there, hunting the bottom on the south end of the farm and just west of the house (the bottom straight out in front of George's house), and must have shot a box of bullets at anything that moved. He ended up with a button buck the first morning. Steve shoots a lot of bullets though, and even emptied a clip of .44mag from a desert eagle at something or another. He wounded a couple that he didn't follow up on from what he said.
Steve was planning to hunt until today, Thursday. You've never met a bigger idiot than Steve. Nobody has.
3-4 miles from George's, I did see a true monster though. Crossed a gravel road at 1 pm Sunday, just a giant deer.
I ended up with a medium 10pt hunting a patch of timber east of the house.
A couple other farm hand guys were hunting and killing the chit out of stuff. I think Robin ran into one of them named John. He's a fun guy, but pretty wild. Another local named Farin always asks us " Are you no huntin' city fuggers gonna kill anything this year or just jerk off?" I'd like to knock that guys teeth out, but someone already beat me to it.

Keith, also, the place is a mud hole, every bit of it, the roads, the fields the hills etc. I have never seen Geroges so wet. He said the river had come up and covered the bottom three times this year. I didnt even try to hunt the bottom because it was so wet, which sucks, becuase I like hunting down by the river. There was standing water is almost every field I saw, not just on George's, but all over.
Craig, I was being to generous with my description. It was a giant of a deer, for a 2.5yr old.
115 or so.
(yes, again) The first thing George says when he sees the buck I shot, "That could have beeen a 14pt next year with those genetics." Thanks for the kick to the nuts George.
I was more happy withh the hunt than the buck. Shot him from the ground at around 30yrds, doing a little still hunting. I was working his way, and he was working towards me.

Dave, How do you know your buck was 2.5? You measure the nut sack?
BTW...You shouldn't let the comments of local folk get to ya...they just call'em as they see'em.

Re: Smitty, if you wouldn't mind.
Toby, it was obvious it wasn't a 3.5yr old after he was on the ground, but he was quite a bit bigger than a 1.5yr, so that part was pretty easy to determine.
The comments are just teasing. I stay at John's house when I'm up there, and Farin is practically John's roommate.
Farin has killed some giants, and has been to prison. I don't know his status as a legal gun owner, but that fugger lives for taking risks. Well, taking risks, and fighting in bars, probably forced sodomy too.

Teasing you say...sounds like an ice breaker just before Farin treats your @ss like a pin cushion.Warmouth wrote:Toby, it was obvious it wasn't a 3.5yr old after he was on the ground, but he was quite a bit bigger than a 1.5yr, so that part was pretty easy to determine.

Re: Smitty, if you wouldn't mind.
He hasn't yet, but he's not a guy to turn your back on either.
He's a fun guy, just a hardcore fightin' redneck. That guy can take an open sighted 30-30, and kill more deer that you could imagine, by stompin' brush and staying on the move, rabbit hunting style. It was really impressive to see how he could break all of the typical rules of deer hunting like being quite, staying downwind, staying out of core areas, walking right at a deer, etc., and kill monster deer. He has a 187" on the wall, and a number of racks over 155". He's one of those guys whose family owned a few ajoining sections of land, and never liked to sit still to wait on a deer. He's up and after them, and if they run off that section (640 acres) he follows them to the next section, and the next.
I never saw anything like it until I started hunting with this group.
