The purpose of the AR's is to promote a greater occurrence of older bucks. Not every older buck will meet the 4-point rule. Therefore, taking a mature 6 pt would not be unreasonable. Even if you were still found guilty, I'm willing to bet a judge with any sense would impose a very modest fine and let you keep the head.
Funny how the AR's were originally proposed as a method for increasing the doe harvest yet now we only speak of it in regard to promoting a pool of older bucks. Folk's who shot does before still do and those who didn't still don't. Some say it's money related...I don't know. I support regulation that sustains a healthy herd but oppose imposing the beliefs of a few on all.

I listened to the same type of shit spew from the mouth of our president elect yesterday…fucking socialists. :deadhorse :smokin: :boohoo:

If you listen to MDC's "spin", the purpose of the 4-point AR reg was to encourage taking of more does to stabilize the population, not to encourage growth of larger bucks. of course we all know that was the true intent.

The 6-pointer I saw was more like the one in the second pic, but still a respectable rack.

Craig, not all the properties I own are prime deer hunting spots. Some of them are more for turkey hunting and fishing. This spot in NW MO was ravaged by the spring and summer floods, and I think that in part has something to do with the decrease in numbers I saw this year. There was a lot of shooting going on in the hills above the floodplain.

Truth be told, I wasn't hunting all that hard this season. I only hunted the weekends- got too much going on right now.
You beat me to it... :flippa:

It was worth repeating Toby- I think everyone has forgotten that MDC did not originally propose the antler restrictions primarily as a way to grow larger bucks with better antlers but rather as a doe opulation management tool. While I am not necessarily against the end result of the regulations, MDC was not forthright in their reasons for the changes with the public during the commenting period.

That one may be worth calling in as a 7pt, and taking your chances. Right, Craig?
