Still Sportin' Headgear ?

Post by Duck Me Runnin » April 14th, 2009, 5:22 pm

Today, I watched a 6 pt. buck for almost ten minutes.

No, not this year's velvet covered gonna - be antlers, but last year's pearly whites. I ain't sure I've ever seen that in the middle of April.

At least he wasn't chasin' the dozen or so does that were hangin' around. :boozer:

Probably a buck that lost his nads.

I saw that in the old home place. Younger bucks keep the racks longer. I don't know why.

The weird part is about 5-6 days later and less than 50 miles away I saw an older buck with a really good start on his new antlers.

The only thing for certain is that antler dropping is testestosterone related. Other than that...they drop when they drop.

But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.
