Deer euthanized after dash through KCI terminal




KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A deer that made its way into Kansas City International Airport has been euthanized due to injuries suffered in a frantic dash through a terminal.


Airport spokesman Joe McBride said the yearling doe went through automatic doors into Terminal A at 5:45 a.m. Monday. He said the deer ran about 100 yards from near the Midwest Airlines section to US Airways gates.

There she ran through a line of about 50 bewildered passengers waiting at a US Airways gate, jumped over a ticket counter, onto a baggage belt and into an office. A worker was able to lock the office door.

McBride said officers from Kansas City Animal Control and the Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services were called. But after they tranquilized the deer, they decided to euthanize her due to severe injuries suffered running through the terminal.

We had a coyote take a tour of our plant a couple weeks ago. He came in through a side door, during the midnight shift. Apparently he never got excited at all. He just walked around like he had been in there before. A few of the guys that carry radios were keeping tabs on him. Unfortunately for him, a sheriff was called to come out and shoot him. A couple of cell phone pics were making the rounds. One showed the coyote hiding behind some wire spools in the mixing department, and the other showed it after the sheriff dispatched him.

At least your sheriff can shoot decently, which I find odd for Illinois.

Just saw this story- it's funny because I flew out of Terminal A on Monday and wondered why the news crews were there. I didn't know until now.
