My turn…
32yds…quartering away.
As she stood there licking her cooter I folded back/trimmed 3-4 limbs then had to perform a circus like Chinese contortion act to get the shot off...she painted the woods for about 40yds.
Killed this one in Leasburg, MO…where we rifle hunt. The landowner had the place logged this past year so we decided to scout the morning…hunt the evening. Holy chit, those fuggers (Warmouth wanabee’s) know how to make a fugging mess. Ruts 12” deep and tops left laying everywhere. A couple of good spots are practically inaccessible due to the tops. If I ever meet the cock sucker who cut down my opening morning stand tree…he’ll not make it back to the truck.

Re: My turn…
That's what I was wondering PS. The last time I hit a deer that high with an arrow, she crumpled up right there and never took a step.
Toby, next year that regrowth area will hold a chit ton of deer. Standing trees are pretty obvious, even from a distance, so I'm betting you'll find another one that will hold your stand. Maybe ask the landowner for help if you are having trouble identifying an upright tree within 30yds of a deer trail.
Good luck.

Re: My turn…
I’d say the combo worked fairly well. When I say she painted the woods…the shit damned near hit me in the face as she ran off. She looked like a damned lawn sprinkler run through the woods.MOCraig wrote:Good show, douchebag. How would you say the Crackerized PSE bow, Slick Trick broadhead, Sword sight, and B-Stinger stab worked for you?
You guys must be used to hunting about 12’ off the ground.PoisonSnake wrote:Were you 50' high in the tree?![]()
Nice job!
I know I was about 20’ up and on the “high” bank side of a wet weather ditch. She was on the other side…fair amount lower in elevation. I’d guess it could have been close to 25’-30’ difference. What ever it was I’ll tell you I didn’t aim that high.
It’s funny you point this out. As I said, I certainly didn’t aim that high. I held my single pin center mast and let’er fly. Left/right placement was good but as the arrow passed through I thought, “what the hell?” Gallons of blood quickly dispelled concern.
I figured it out as I replayed it in my head. Any idea? Perfect example of what happens when you drop your bow arm from an elevated position. Contorted like a f’ing pretzel and wrapped ½ around the tree on my right side...I was ½ squatted and holding my bow under and over limbs…”in a hole”. At first I thought she may have jumped a little but like I said, she was standing peacefully licking her cooter…not to mention we’re talking about a PSE X Force…may as well of been shooting a rifle, right?

Shit...I could hardly get my ATV to it with all the tree tops on the ground. After dark and having only the head lights of the ATV made for a sick maze.MOCraig wrote:Did you drive your dune buggy out there?
At this point I’ll likely whip the shit out of the next poor fella I see wearing a red/black checkered shirt. Though I’ll make sure to stick to the safer confines of the city and too those who think their lumberjacks. The new Wal-Mart Supercenter opens Wednesday…maybe I’ll start there. You get too far out into Jeff Co. and some backwoods, illiterate, redneck who honestly carries logs around all day may try bending me over the tail gate.

Re: My turn…
Jeff county ain't even that rural any more. Get deep in Washington or Iron Co if you want to run into a real redneck lumber jack. Hell, go all out and get yourself around Arcadia or Piedmont. I over heard a couple guys at a gun shop/gas station talking about what kind of puxxy felt the closest to human puxxy. I'm not lieing about that and I don't think they were either.

Re: My turn…
I try to keep the base of my stand at about the 16' level and not much higher. I figured she had to be pretty much downhill from you. End result is the same even if you had whacked her in the back ham and gotten the femoral artery. Dead deer.

It's our home away from home...know them both like the back of my hand. Our place is about 1 1/4 miles south of the dam...on the river. This is the view from our back porch area.Warmouth wrote:Toby must like the Black river and Clearwater Lake then.

Re: My turn…
Nice walleye. I can't manage to land one over 12".
I've floated the Black River above the lake about a dozen times. Great clear river, and a real smallmouth haven.
Catfish and crappie fishing in Clearwater lake ain't so bad either.
Cool stuff.

Re: My turn…
8-3/4 lbs if I remember correctly. Caught it right in front of our house on a natural/chartreuse power grub…8lb line on a med/light spinning rod. Had no idea what I had until he surfaced at the boat.Warmouth wrote:Nice walleye. I can't manage to land one over 12".

Cool stuff.
Caught that flat head at the spillway crappie fishing…on a crappie jig, 6lb line, 5-1/2’ light spinning rod. I believe it was also right around 8lbs.
Tell you this…the belly fillets off that flat head is likely the best fish I’ve ever ate.
Don’t forget the largemouth in the upper part of the river. Annually I catch some of my biggest fish from where it dumps into the lake to about 2-3 mile up. Buzzbaits everyday of the year.
