Hidden treasures

Post by hunting170 » February 23rd, 2009, 11:58 am

I have often wondered how many giant whitetail racks are just hanging in garages, in the midwest, that no one realizes what they have. My father-in-law has had this one nailed to his garage wall since 1986. It still has the tag on it. You can see in the bottom picture where the other drop tine(s) broke off.

One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

I know what you mean Tony.

Up around Kirksville the farmer that I hunt with has a barn full of decent racks.

His neighbor killed a 19 pointer a couple years ago, and we went to look at it. His plans were to hang it up in the barn too, along with the others. Great big non-typ. 'bout made me sick.

I took the cape from the buck I killed last year, and had those antlers mounted for my father-in-law. I wish you could have seen him when he first saw it. He didn`t recognize it initially. Actually he said that he didn`t even realize that it was gone from his barn. I swear he was like a kid at Christmas when he figured out what he was looking at.

Here are a few more of his trophies that now hang in his billiard room:

Wow, you're a nice guy 170. I'm to cheap to have any of my own kills mounted.

It definitely makes you wonder! Those are some dandies for sure. Who doesn't like drop tines?

Why didn't you get him a mount like this one?

If the rack on his buck was as big as that one I probably would have.

I saw that on at.com. That`s the coolest mount I have ever seen. I doubt that it would lood as good with a smaller set of antlers though.
