That 8 pointer outscores your biggest unless you've got something I haven't seen. Image

PS-On the chew, I've had mixed results, I don't chew on stand as much as I used to, but I have this year while testing the Scrape Juice, and had deer come in from straight down wind. Maybe I just get away with a lot of chit, but I tell you, you can fool a deers nose, if not 100% of the time, then 98% of the time.

When gun hunting, I don't do chit for scent control, don't wear camo, etc. I can cover too much area with a gun to worry about it imo.

ol' dad has taken a few deer with stick and string before and he ain't never bought into none of that fake deer pizz or $500 dollar scent lock buuulllchiiit clothing... Image

I think it boils down to either you know what the fork you're doing or you don't. You can b1tch and complain all you want that you just don't have a good spot or other people fork up the deer, and whatever other bullchit excuse you can think of....... Maybe the reality of it is, that you just suck at deer hunting Image Image

These were all shot off public land with a bow...3 of them post gun season.....No, they ain't record deer by any means, but they ain't walkers either

Mock scrapes??? LMAO!!! Image

You can't saw straight for chit.

I would really consider shooting TTN's class of buck with my bow right now if I had one in range. Right on the boardeline imo.

OleDad,

Those are some fantastik deer...no doubt about it. I agree with some of what you said. You don't have to buy into all that stuff to kill deer. However, anything that might give me an edge I am all about. I have not been using scents very little over the last few years and it has not changed the amount of deer I see. I have a carbon suit just because. Whether it helps or not I really don't know. The wind supressing gear is probably the most helpful of the fabrics.

Mock scrapes ? I would use them, have not had to as of yet though. In the type of hunting Keith and Robin are trying to pull off in the suburban area, is probably the biggest factor in justifying trying such.

and btw your a ducker so anything you say is 99% BS. Image Image Image

Dave T,

Up till your most recent statements you have been pretty much on the money. Your not fooling deer downwind of you 99% of the time. Either they are used to smelling humans or your stand is 40 feet off the ground.

I don't buy into the scentlock clothes either.

Estrous scent works though if used properly.

I don't think I can fool a deer's nose even 75% of the time. Like I said, some days it seems that nothing will smell me on the downwind side and other days I have been smelled from a deer upwind of me. I have the same routine day in-day out.

I was with you until that statement. Look, the mock scrape was specifically to hold the deer (hopefully) for the camera, and it worked beautifully just 12 hours later. Laugh if you want, but we got the pic. We rarely use scent for hunting, other than the bowhunters setup, and we use that to hold the deer still for the shot. That has worked well for us this year, giving us much better video of the deer.

He grosses exactly that though. I only refer to gross scores anymore. Also, he is a bowkill and was not shot at 150 yards in an open field.

PS - He's still dead though.

2B - You have no say in this, remember your 130" 8 point you shot this year, that might go 120"? After you proclaimed on here last year over and over that you pass on 130" 8 pointers all the time, so you don't have any room to talk, period.

All of you are a bunch of puddin's

If they're not big enough when I shoot them....well heck, they will be later. Image Image

<Of course that was only three broken half Image(out of 19 points) fixed on one deer, but I can't let my reputation go to pot> Image

I rarely hunt over 20' high, last yr I shot an 8pt from a latter stand that's platform is 12-13' maybe.

Anyway, I'm just telling it like I see it. I honestly believe you can reduce your scent to the point that if deer do notice it, it's faint enough not to alter their habbits, or travel path as far as I can tell.
