My priorities change all the time....there was a time when it was all about just killing anything. Then it was all about killing all I could. Then it was about killing the biggest I could. Now it's about making sure we got the dang camera in the right position for the shot.

Keith@AimLow: Are you guys gonna pass on big deer ifn' the cameara shot isn't correct? My understanding is with some of these production companies that ifn' you can't get it on camera, you don't kill it? Are you guys planning along these lines? PoisonSnake

I' won't say that there will not be exceptions, but we have to look at it this way: We only have so many tags for bucks. If we are going to dedicate all of our hunting time to getting good footage and kill shots, we would only be hurting ourselves by shooting a buck that is not on camera. I will also say this...because we are looking for good footage, I will be a lot more willing to shoot a 120ish deer this year than in in the past if it will make for entertaining video. I can no longer have the trophy deer mentality. Getting good respectable deer on film is the priority. BTW-We plan to kill several does this year on film as well as part of a project we are putting together. With a little luck, Aim Low will be making many contributions to the Share the Harvest program.

My buddy that used to work for Primos couldn't even hunt without the camera crew, or so he said. Also, there is nothing wrong with 120ish deer. I killed 3 of them last year and I consider 2 of them to be pretty dang good bucks. I was just curious to know how you guys were gonna work it. Does the camera man sit in the same tree with the hunter? Best I can tell he does. I would hate to have to find 2 good trees to hang a stand in. Hard enough finding one.

Smitty...the stand placement I'm sure will vary. At times it will be better to share a tree and others it will be best to just get in one close by. I always thought it would be cool to film a guy shooting a deer from acrossed a field where you can see the hunter and the deer from a front view as he shoots the deer. Wouldn't that be interesting?

That would be interesting, no doubt. I would like to see that. I think wind may be the biggest factor to pull that off.

Seems like I have viewed that on some other show, but I think that would be really great, especially if you had 2 cameras..One up the same tree and the other from another distance view...That way you could show both during the actual hunt...

Sorry, I thought I was done but what about using the filmage like some of the fishing shows do...You know catch the same fish but from different cameras...At least you could show it as 2 different kills. Image

Yeah, I had a buddy filming me like that the morning I got married. That would be pretty cool. He was in the perfect stand and I was about 15 yards from him. No deer were seen or taken, however.

The Drurys pulled that off on one of their videos. Terry shot a big buck while someone filmed over his shoulder. Meanwhile their cousin Jared filmed from a box blind across the field. Made for some neat footage.
