If I had it, I'd take it to a reputable gun dealer and have them look at it. It could be worth quite a bit of dough.

Blue Book shows a Frank Wesson gunmaker from that time period. No 38's or 1880 models, could be a special order as most production runs they list show 500-1000 or more. Made a pretty popular tip-up, which was considered a rifle, but they had short barrels and folks nowadays would call em pistols, they were single shot too. All the revolvers show a high end of $500-MINT low of $100. Yours being a limited run and well worn it's probably between there somewheres.
Hope this helps some

little more I've dug up, these guns were gallery guns as a general rule, so yours may be a special run for a shooting club. If it's CF then it'll likely be the .38 S&W. I have some H&R's from that period, couple are solid guns but I wouldn't even consider shootin em.
Definitely have someone look at it fore ya shoot yer eye out......

Rusty: I don't plan to shoot it. Like I said, I don't know enough about the nomenclature on the barrel. I'll try to get a picture of that too so you can explain it to me.

Rusty is closer... Frank Wesson gun. I've seen one of his break top single shots that was a .32.

Okay, I took some pictures but I forgot the camera this morning. But, I looked a little closer and I could read what looked like an "h & Wesson". So, it is probably a S&W. But, the last date on it says 1880. All other stuff I don't know what it means. Just a bunch of dates.

Patent dates.

Yeah, that is what they are, but I can't make much out of them. In fact, the only full date is 1880. The rest do not include the 18 in it so I just assume those numbers are like 1830, etc...
