Albino deer have been confirmed in most states PS. They're neat, but not as wary as big black cats I reckon.

I saw this thing this morning about 7:15am. Crystal clear skies and the sun was up. Most of the ground is still white with snow - so it was plenty bright.

It was not dark - it was BLACK. That is the one thing I am absolutely positive of. Maybe it wasn't a cat, but it was definitely black. I was like you dave - my neighbor, wife and kid all claimed to have seen it, and I just blew it off - one of those things you have to see to believe. Well, I saw. And I believe. I am serious about the web cam. Would make for a fun project. and I can set it just to take a snapshot every 30 seconds or so.

This thing does not appear to be laying low. My neighbor claims to have seen it a couple of times - my wife and kid saw it, and now me. That is three different sightings in about a week. If it's still around, and I have a camera focused on that field, I would think that I can get a picture of it...

No chit Warmouth. But, I would bet the vast majority of hunters have never seen one. I couldn't believe my eyes a few years back when I saw the first one. A bowhunter ended up killing him. Then, last year I saw one 3 or 4 different times. I walked right up on her. Should have gone home to get the camera. Like you said though, a panther is a whole 'nother bag of worms. Especially in downtown Columbia. I'm guessing big housecat.

JDog: Go and get a picture of some tracks in the snow. What you saw was a tomcat. After a hard night of Hooters, things tend to look a little bigger sometimes.

Smitty - I have seen that albino on a couple of occasions down there off of gilespie bridge. In fact, I posted a video of it. I had it grazing under my stand for a couple of hours last year.

The field is owned by an old lady. It is part of a farm. There is about 300 acres of woods and pasture surrounded on all sides by subdivisions. She is a hold out. About 3 years ago, she sold the land to a developer who has started putting houses up. But here farm house is still there - and she still lives there. I assume she made a deal with the developer that she gets to stay there till she dies. She also donated 100 acres to the city for a park, which is adjacent to 100 acres that here husband's brother donated to the city. So there is 200 acre park that deed restriction prohibit development on. So this is an island of undeveloped land surrounded on all sides by the suburbs of Columbia.

All I know is that I saw what I saw.

I know exactly where you are talking about. I have hunted in there illegally.

Yes, that is the deer of which I speak. As far as I know, that deer is still alive.

I called MDC and their expert said there are no big cats of any kind or color in Missouri.....no bears either and that's that, they should know.

Truth be known, I thought it was entirely legal, or so my buddy said. I killed a doe in there. Then, a neighbor fellow off of Bray indicated to me that I wasn't supposed to be in there. Haven't been back since. That was about 8 years ago.

I do know I would probably keep the kids from playing in that area until it is all figured out.

Be sure and post up a url to the live feed cam. It would be interesting to keep an eye on. As a test, maybe you could hire peelers to rip off their clothes in the field as a trial for all us just to make sure it works?

Oh, and happy damned birthday...and such Image

I hope you get a pic JD, I really do. And the type of landlocked timber you talk about is the type of land I hunted in KC, but it was privately owned. One year I saw 3 different bobcats in there, a coyote, and a couple red fox (maybe one fox twice). Flocks of 50 or more turks was also very common to see. Anyway, when they are landlocked like that, it's amazing how many critters can pack into the same woodlot.

What's crazy is seeing how many deer can pour out of a bit of cover like that at night, and start feeding in yards. One night around 1am, I started seeing deer come out into our yard to feed, and they worked their way to the front yard. I went to a different window to watch them, and saw several deer in every front yard up the road. 20-25+ deer, all does, in viewing distance (200yds or less) milling around under the front yard oaks, plain as daylight under the glow of the street lights. Image It was impressive, odd, and infuriating all at the same time. It made me wonder what was going on in other surrounding neighborhoods.

JimDog, with it being your birthday and all today. Are you sure that it's not your advanced age, having an effect on your eyesight?

Rainbow, have you ever laid eyes on JimDog? He's not the best looking "cat" in the world. His wife married him, so you know she can't see that well. As far as the kids go, they think they saw something, heck, it could be a racoon.
