I have killed 2 turkeys with a bow. Hit 3 or 4 more. I think 2 of those died, but, I didn't bother looking for them terribly much. It was the first week of November on each of them and I was not about to take a chance on screwing up on a big deer for a measely turkey. In fact, on one of those birds, I went down, cleaned my arrow up, put it back on the string, and killed a 150" 8-pointer 2 hours later.

You light-weights act like killing a bow Turk is hard. I've only tried it three times and have three dead birds to show for it. Ever spot and stalked one, Rafe? Two of mine were killed that way.

Get back to dreaming you're as good as those of us who are actually good.

I've spot and stalked 3 of my 8 bow turkeys, 4 were taken from treestands and one from a groundblind. All but two of those birds have gone down at less than 10 yards. Just they way I like it!!!

Two of mine were spot & stalk. The other 3 were taken while hunting from the ground or a stand. Only 2 went more than 10 yards.

Went for the first time since gun season. Got up there Friday night. Woke up to hard rain Saturday. Finally slowed down around noon, so I started getting ready to hunt the afternoon. Got in the stand around 2:00 in the cold wind and still some sprinkles. About 3:30, a very nice 8 pt. ran 2 does around my stand. Couldn't get a shot. Saw 10 deer by dark. Sunday I jumped 1 deer on the way to the stand at daylight. Saw a gobbler at 100 yards at 10:30. Put in my mouth call and called the flock to me. There was a flock of about 6 gobblers walking near a flock of about 15 hens & poults. One of the hens came within 30 yards and finally gave me a shot. I went right under her. I know what I did wrong and have been kicking myself. The rest of her flock stayed 35-40 yd, but with limbs and weeds, I didn't take a shot.

Left the timber at noon due to a prior committment.
