I will say this. I have tried to make a mock scrape and have had no luck. But, that picture really got me to thinking about some things. Especially as interested as deer seem to be toward that Scrape Juice. I'm gonna make one this weekend and just kindof check it from time to time.

Sorry dave, I just can't help it and since MoCraig is your whipping boy now, he won't correct you.

I've had no luck with mock scrapes or with adding scent to scrapes. I just hunt them as they are, but really prefer to hunt funnels and travel coradors between scrapes or other sign.

Don't limit yourself to just one scrape (unless it's Image hot) when you can cover the path between scrapes and get other deer paths as well.

dave, the more you type, the more I realize that Jackie Bushman must be your idol. If there were any young hunters on here for you to influence, I would have to tell you to shut it already. Image

I can tell you this; I am already planning where I'm gonna be setting up some mock scrapes. Next year, I'll have to double the order on the Scrape Juice.

Jackie is a dumbass.

I get to see more deer up close in a year out of my back window than most hunters see in twice that time.

I'm just telling you what my experiences are and what works for me. Your techniques may vary, but I'm not lying about what I do or what I have seen. Image

I bought 10 bottles. Gave 2 or 3 away, and have 4 full ones left. I plan to use 2 of those for mock scrapes this weekend.

My take on mock scrapes:

They are an excellent way to get deer to stop within bow range for a shot if they are coming through. I don't neccesarily think they will bring a deer in to check on it to an area they were not already headed. I don't think there is any negative effects from them so I will continue to play around with them. I even like to piss in them myself to get them good and wet and scented with amonia.

Like Robin said, they serve our purpose, and that is to get the deer to stop long enough to check them out to give a us clear broadside shot or a good picture on the trail cam.

Keith, I wasn't rippin ya for using mock scrapes...well, alright I was a little. The point that I was making was, you can throw all that bullchit out the window and still wack a nice deer. You can argue that until your dead, but I know too many "old" string and stick shooters that consistantly wacked big deer before all the new fangled crap thats now on the market came out. I'll be the first to say that using mock scrapes, scent lock suites, deer poop, a hoof in a pot of witches brew, and all the other fads that are out there now probably ain't going to hurt anything, but I think its just a waste of time, and too many folks become dependant on it. In other words, people are worrying to much about whether they put their mock scrape in the right place or used the best brand of doe piss, rather than just relying on the common sense and the basics.

I make all kinds of sounds when I'm at home in bed, but I've never tried a fawn bleat.
