JD - It depends, did the ball land on top of the wall on the fly, or bounce and land on the wall?

Re: Games last evening...
please review each scenario for me. Although the question posed by my son was involved the ball coming straight down an actually landing on the fence.
A clear conscience is the sign of a bad memory.

Jimdog- It is still a ground rule double. Anytime the ball gets "caught up" in an obstruction in or on the field, it is a ground rule double.
Why do they argue with you on sports rules?!?

Anything you can do, I can do better.

Re: Games last evening...
JD - The ball landing on top of the wall on the fly would be considered a home run, since the top of the wall is usually considered the line for a home run. This actually happened in a game back in 1942 between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees, it was known as the The Big Apple Debacle.
If the ball bounces and lands on top of the wall, then it would be considered a ground rule double (see above).

Re: Games last evening...
On top of the wall/fence, I might agree with that being a home run. I was thinking of the ball getting hung between the wall and the pads that line the wall/fence. It is really the only place on the fence that it could happen.
The front of the fence is obviously part of the playing field.
If the ball bounces up under the pads that line the fence, it would definitly be a g-rule double.
This type of BS is what I do for 8 months of every year.

Dave, I knew you were VERY good at spreading BS, now I know why...you spend so much time studying it..
I would agree with the ball landing on top of the fence and staying there being a home run....

Well, the Cardinals had better hope they take 2 of 3 in Houston or it will not be good.

PS - You are a freaking genius!!!
Yeah, you're right it won't be good, since they'd be out of the playoffs.

Spoken like a true Cardinal fan. Get any splinters in your azz when you jumped on the bandwagon this year?

But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

Yes, I'm a Cardinal fan, since I can remember. I'm a realist, there's no way they can come back from a 3-1 deficit. I hope they do come back, but they won't.

Truth be known Flake, I haven`t liked their chances since the Astros beat the Braves.
