I don't have to worry about gutting deer, I just let someone else do it for me. You boys and your stupid knives, I'll put my trusty barlow up against any of your gay looking custom knives.

Barlow makes their blades from recycled beer cans. Image

I carry an extra and sometimes two extra knives in my bag, along with the Schrade in my pocket. I don't bust pelvic bones with my main gutting blade.

DMR - That $100 will gut deer for the rest of my lifetime and more than likely my son's. You ain't gonna get 2 lifetimes of deer gutting for $100 anywhere else. Image

Snowy - let me guess, that barlow is bonjour beige.....I'll take your word on gay looking knives. I'm sure the expert. Image You must be in the sword swallowing bidness along with MoCraig. Image BTW - If someone else guts your deer, whaddya got the barlow for, just to look like you know what yer doin'?

Oh yeah counts, be sure and tell TTTN how much credibility he's lost too, due to his thoughts on the guthook! Image

No, the barlow is used for cutting open letters, etc. I don't need to gut my deer, one of my lackeys do that for me.

What is with your problem with a gut hook. They work. I gutted deer with out them before. No problem. You make it sound like a gut hook has no purpose whatsoever.

I like the gut hoock for skinning down the legs or any long cut through skin. I don't use them for actual gutting though. The blade is too wide for the delicate cuts needed around the cornhole.

The right shape of a knife makes a gut hook pointless. It's just as easy with a correctly designed drop point to run the knife like a zipper. Clip point knives are worthelss for anything but skinning.

My original comment was primarily there to stir the pot...apparently it worked quite well. Image Image I was also amused by your jumping my azz over my comment, but you seemed to back off a bit when someone else had the same opinion! Image Image

Gut hooks add an interesting sight line to the knife. Besides, looking at a plain ole knife gets old after a while.
