Congrats to your dad Dennis. Any deer with a bow is a good one. He sure looks to be happy about it. Image

2B: It isn't the bow you can rest assured. On 2 of the 3 animals I have shot at, I have been spot on (8-pointer and the bobcat). I still don't understand that first miss, but I did hit limbs on this last miss. That, and he was moving to get the heck out of dodge. On another note, I will be looking at the Bowtech when I purchase my next bow.

BTW, can I consider myself 3 for 3 with this bow? Or, is it 3 for 4?

Or, is it 2 for 4 since my last 2 shots were in fact misses?

Nice deer PS, good tall tines. Good job tracking him up to.

Did you really knife the fugger instead of putting another arrow in him?

Well Dave, yes I did knife him in the chest. But, I did shoot him at 20 yards to try and finish him off. Weirdest thing; he was laying on his side with his head halfway up. I drew down on him and released for a perfect quartering shot. The darn thing got up and ran 70 yards and bedded back down. I found my arrow and it looked to have glanced off of him. I guess it would have been like shooting at the top of your target so I can understand it. Needless to say, I was stupified. But, when I found the cut, I whacked him right where I was aiming. I guess I should have aimed for the guts ensuring penetration. So, I didn't want to waste another $10 arrow. So, I knifed him.

I still haven't found the arrow from the deer I shot. It hit the opposite shoulder and came back through, dropped out somewhere on the death run. His far side lung was ripped up from that arrow flapping around inside his chest. No blood trail though.

Holy crap Smitty...am I reading this right? Three shots in total? Two arrows from the stand and one from the ground. What the heck? Does this deer have the same polarity as your arrows? Are they swerving just before impact? I wouldn't waste anymore arrows either!

2B is right PS. The flatter trajectory of a Bowtech would have gotten under that limb. And I`m guessing that only a Mathews would throw an arrow that would glance off of a deer. Image

I just think some day Field & Stream or somebody is going to want to do some big documentary on you and you won't have magazine quality photos for the big layout. Take a look in our gallery at some of the pictures of Tony posing with his deer. He is good about taking good pictures.

Actually Robin took most of those pictures. I`m just very photogenic. Image Image Image

Toby: Yes, 3 arrows. Of those 3, only one of those shots hit home. That was the 3rd shot. That deer had 2 holes through him and yes, the best I could tell, the arrow glanced off. I did not look to see if it passed through, but my fletching had only a trace of blood on it and the deer went another 70 yards before laying back down. The only thing that I could make of it is that there was a bit of tall grass where he was laying down and that might of played some part. But, there was a gaping wound where the arrow connected with the ribs. He was laying 20-25 yards from me with his rearend kindof toward me. I hit him 6" behind the shoulder and the arrow should have quartered in toward the heart. Oddest thing I have ever seen. It looked like there was a hole, but the arrow may have just slid along and inside of the hide without entering the chest (Due to the flat trajectory). Again, I'm basing this only on the fact that the fletchings were not blood slicked. They were pink with blood, but in rather good shape. I felt so sorry for that deer it was unreal. BTW, I wasn't aware of them teaching magnetism in that neck of the woods?

170, don't give me that jive. Everyone knows that the laws of physics suggest that you must have more than a foot of drop between 20 and 30 yards. Image Image

Image Check this out. My daughter is 4yo and goes to a local daycare/preschool. Last week I asked her teacher how she was getting along in class. Her teacher went on to explain that she exceptionally well behaved and respectful to her piers. The teachers continues to explain that currently she is the only one in the class that knows hoe to read and that she reads to the class on a daily basis. Looking at her confused I said, "I thought reading was a mandatory prerequisite for teachers." Image The school is fantastic and her teacher is great but I couldn't help myself.

In spite of her dad's butchering of the language, she manages to excel in reading. Image
