If it's the same green bushes as are in my area, then it's honeysuckle bushes. Do they/did they have little red berry's on them? If so then it is honeysuckle.

Very sweet to the deer for food and cover, and the stuff stays green forever. In the real late season, Jan and Feb, even early March, they will eat the stems of the bushes, and their spore looks like it's made of saw dust. It's hardy stuff though, and it comes back bigger every year no matter how much the deer eat it down in the winter.

If there is a lot of it though, it makes patterning the deer tough.

Find a good honey locust/bean tree with honeysuckle around it, and you have a great late season food source.

I agree 2B. I think it is just the way he is standing that makes him look to be not so swayed in the back.

170: I agree, net scores are for the birds. But, I always speak in terms of net scores. For example, when I talk of the deer in my avatar, I make mention that he only scores 122", and not the 133" that he grosses. From now on, I'm only gonna make mention of gross scores when talking about all of my deer. It will make me feel better for sure.

I'm still thinking the deer in that picture will net in the 150s. I think you guys should pass on him.

Let me edit here and say high 150s, possibly 160". Gross will be where it is at for sure though.

I believe it is honeysuckle bush. In two of our spots, there is some, but not alot, so it is perfect. The one spot last year was a slam dunk for a doe or 2 every morning in late season.

H170, is the buck you been seeing bigger than this one?

My area is covered up with the honeysuckle bush and vine.

Lay down a scent trail of doe in heat, asap, and kill that buck. If the landowner is seeing him often, then it should be a slam dunk. Keep scent control #1, but with the stage of the rut we're in, any buck still cruising/working scrapes, should really fall for it hard.

You guys should really be able to get this one, and hopefully it'll be a great show as it all goes down.

Nets are what the real score is. 125gross doesn't get any body any awards. Gross is for braggarts.

My question is this: Who gets to hunt this buck? Keith, or Robin?

It`s really hard to compare the two. The one I am hunting is a 7x6 with some stickers. The G4 and G5 on his right side are very short compared to the left side. If they matched he would be a magazine buck. If he had the tine length of your MO buck I might have to borrow a rifle, and a spot light. Image

btw...how much did you say MO NR permits cost? You guys are going to need some help with this one. I can sit in the blind on Tuesday, and Wednesday from daylight until noon. Image

That is what I was thinking 170. You need to be there so that this deer actually gets killed and not missed or wounded. I can do the filming, but I'm not so good at that. Image

Here's my idea, let me come down there and hunt the buck. That way there won't be any fighting between Keith and Robin about who gets to kill it. It's the least I could do.

I could be the tree stand dummy for Robin. They wouldn't be able to tell us apart. I won't carry my bow, honest injun. Image

Shut it Flake. This ain`t a buck for a light weight like yourself. Besides you can`t use a rifle in a suburban area. Image

I could stand in for Keith@aimlow. My shooting prowess on the sammich 9 pointer makes that a good fit.

Up yours 170. Just wait until next year when PS and I are horning in on your ground in Illinois. You'll see how the Missouri boys do it with the stick and string. Robin and Keith aren't very good representatives for Missouri boys and our hunting prowess. Image
