I'm convinced that SF doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. I mean, the guy looks at a monthly payment of 3k and gets a brainfart that somehow I must be paying terribly high insurance. He doesn't have a clue how much I am even financing to begin with. Then, in his next post, he suggests I double it. I'm not sure he sells anything.
Your house payment has nothing to do with what I posted. You said you were figuring a $100 month for insurance. I told you to double it.
Lonepine - What the heck are you talking about?

Here is how the conversation went SEPS.
3k per month house payment!?!?!?
Yep. After insurance and taxes, that is what I am guessing. Luckily that my takehome income is 4k, or I would be screwed.
Somebody's really sticking it to you on the insurance then.
How in the heck would you figure someone was screwing me on insurance based upon this conversation? How much am I financing? Based upon that amount, what are my yearly taxes? Can you determine that as well based upon the information I gave you?

Like I said, if the wife and I didn't make 4k per month, we'd be really screwed. Luckily, childcare only runs me $800. So, we have $200 for food and electric.

You're financing $300,000-$350,000.
Yearly taxes will be around $3,000.
Any other questions?

I see, so how much is this house going to cost to build, PS?
I'm not very far off.

It isn't about how much the house is going to cost. It is about how much I intend to finance. BTW, while you are guessing, can you estimate the total cost of the project including the land it will sit "set" on?

Based upon what you've told me in the past, you're looking at $400,000 total. The land I'd guess $4,000 per acre.

You finally got one right. That is good. Oh, and that was the mortgage insurance question. Guess again on the other.

You couldn't have convinced me of that a few years back Hobie, but you are right on with that now. I'd take every acre I could get my hands on for 4k an acre.
