Juls, the FLW timing is very interesting. You may very well be prefishing while many of the fish in the lower lake are spawning, and possibly competing while the fish are in post-spawn. That's a heckuva challenge.
Geez, I know you HATE to troll (lol), but if one were to cover some water near the mouths of those spawning creeks one might have a shot at a hungry monster or two...just a wild-### suggestion for something to try whilst you're here. For limits you might have to go well up into the creek arms.

I went poking around the FLW Walleye Tour, and found this official photo of somebody holding a rather large walleye, standing on the deck of a rather large boat, floating on what is obviously a very large body of water, 'cause there is no shoreline in the background...only miles and miles of water...holding a line counter rod/reel in the other hand.
Juls must really hate that trolling thing. And having to deal with walleyes like that must be boring to the max....
Wish I had problems like that to deal with

Well, since more opportunities are opening up I went ahead and emailed a bunch of MWAA folks in case they'd be interested in hitching up. They can come here if they promise not to laugh at my many self-serving statements, unabashed truth-stretchings, frequent outright lies and constant braggadoccio...

There, that's better........

Hmmmmmm....remember all that above when you start writing your autobiography...but I guess without all that stuff, the pros probably never would have found our little corner of the walleye world, and these opportunities would not have come our way. So a (grudging) thanks is in order from those of us who will avail ourselves. Boy, them was tough words to get out.<<<big grin>>>. It's getting to be my bed time if I intend to drag out early enough in the morning to meet BB before five....gonna be a short night and a long morning. Will let you guys know how the trip turned out.
Maybe I can borrow one of PD's "frequent outright lies" if things don't go as well as hoped for, but with that new rod, a supply of Finley River shiners, a couple of newly tied Pimp jigs, and two packs of those new PowerBait swimming minnow rigs, at least one walleye should bite on something. G'nite, mates.

Oh yeah, before I forget...if anybody needs any of the Lindy Timb'r jigs, that huge fishing store on South Campbell in Springfield put a bunch of them in one of the sale tubs. The packages are small, and have filtered down under the crankbaits, but the price is right if you like lighter weight jigs for working in and around wood. And NO, I don't get a kickback from the store....just trying to save you a few shekels.

Yeah, I'm guilty...I love to troll, but it doesn't work as the best presentation everywhere, so I will be trying different techniques down in your part of the country this Spring. The next two tournaments after Bull Shoals will both be a trolling bites (Lake Erie, which is my home lake, and Green Bay, which used to be my home lake), so I'm looking forward to doing something other than trolling down at BS.
I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who have emailed me today. I appreciate it very much. You guys are all so friendly it makes me want to move South!
These little animations kill me! Rock On!

hehehe
Have a good night...

TR, you been nipping at Jerri's formerly secret stash today? You say "I love you" like someone at a Wisconsin bar in the half-second before they throw up all over you.
Hey, I appreciate the nice thoughts, but methinks thou dost greatly overstate thyself. Thanks, man. Now forget it and go sleep it off like a good fellow........

Johnnie,
Glad to "see" you again. I'm planning to be at the PWT on Saturday through the following Saturday. Walleyesrus and I are fishing on Monday, but other than that I'm open. I'm doing all the WEST PWT's this year.
Would love to share the boat and some "old time" memories about our tournaments together. If not, let's get together for a beverage of choice. Saw you and your dad on the In-Fisherman PWT last week. He's looking pretty good.

Hey BS'ers!
This old weather beaten walleye hunter would be glad to have some company in the boat while on Bull Shoals this spring for the PWT. Thanks for the offer!
I will be coming down on May 4th and staying at Lighthouse Resort. I can be contacted at either
sf@mlecmn.net or 218-678-3103.
Keep a tight line...

Welcome aboard, Steve. I've read and re-read your 8 to 1 ratio theory in the In Fisherman walleye encylopedia. Will drop you a note about pre-fishing if you're not booked up.
Good luck in the tournament. We're hoping for good weather for all you guys so you can concentrate on the fishing and not on mere survival....

Thanks---we always feel welcome when we venture south.
After having a great practice period at BUll Shoals last year and then getting totally snookered in the tournament--I gotta big bone to pick with BS walleyes. I can't wait!
Keep in touch! If ever any of you have anything I can do for you---feel free to scream, holler, cast..whatever. I'll be glad to get back to you and TRY to answer any questions you might have.
Thanks again!
Keep a tight line...

Anyone looking for someone to fish, with if you've not heard of him before Steve is the real deal. One of the finest bait riggers there is and a master of boat control and reading electronics also a real student of the game. Stve caught the big fish on day three last year I believe 9 something.
