lol Ya---It's tough to teach old dogs new tricks but even I learned after 40,000 hours of holding a fishin' rod the hard way.

'Course I gotta have SOME advantage over these young punks nippin' at our heels with all their fancy e-lectronics and built in maps hooked up to their 'puters screwed down to their rocket boats! lol

Slam your fishin' rod handles in the truck door---or---check this out lol. www.wristsaverrods.com

Yes...I like LIVE bait. I never did feel right about trying to feed a walleye a fake minnow--thinking his decision to bite or not bite might mean the difference between ME eating or not, let alone having the doggone fish swim away mad at me for insulting his intelligence! lol

Only 40,000 hours? This bunch put in that many hours this year alone on Bull Shoals before the first keeper walleye was caught! Will definitely check out the wristsaver rods. I have already put away the bait casting rigs because of wrist pain...must be the fishing version of carpal tunnel syndrome. Well, boys.....I would stay and chat, but Stockton is calling, and if the forecast is not too bad, gotta give the Express another chance to screw up. I'm with Steve....age, experience, and guile will defeat youth and enthusiasm every time! Or at least some of the time. Image

Walleye guys beware....the Express is back to normal. Sorry I can't say the same about CW (somebody was going to say it anyway, so I just beat you to it). Stockton was flat this morning, so I let her run from Crabtree Cove to the island and back to Point 2....never missed a lick, and idles slow enough to troll. I did catch one short walleye in 55 feet of water off the point using a crippled minnow jigging spoon...one with a blue stripe on top. Couple of other guys out there, but nobody caught anything else while I was there. Upon reflection, I think the problem was the old primer bulb. When they go bad and let gas backflow to the tank, all sorts of problems develop. Anyway, The Express is back in business. She will be looking for The Bite Me Tracker and those yellow thingies off to the side that attacked us. Uh huh. Image

steve, welcome! The "Free Man" and "Senator" stuff below your screen name is just an arbitrary designator that the software applies based on the number of posts you've made on the site. Seems to follow Roman society or something.

In this thread you'll find a few email addresses for pros who have chimed in and are willing to take some of the locals out prefishing. You can contact them to set up an outing. The alternative is to show up at the Bull Shoals Boat Dock marina a little after sunrise in the days before the tourney and hitch a ride--there'll surely be several pros around who'd welcome the company. Good luck--if you have trouble hooking up, just post here and we'll try to help.

Steve, not sure what kind of help you're looking for, and don't know who Pommeguy is--no one on this site goes by that name. Will be glad to help you if I can...???

If you want to email one of the pros above (Johnnie Candle and Steve Fellegy for the PWT, Julia Davis or Rick LaCourse for the FLW), just click on the link they posted, type your message and send. It'll get there! There's also another thread here where a couple of FLW pros posted their contact info, looking for prefishing partners. Same deal.

Hey, Pommeguy....where is your home twenty? With a handle like that, you might live fairly close to me. I live just outside Bolivar, near Half Way. I'm 12 miles from the south end of the lake at Bolivar Landing.
