Alright, I need a primer. I don't know much about deer hunting but it's fun to come in and read from time to time. I know CCGC is the conservation cafe goat club but the heck is WAS? White Ass Suckers? Weirdos Against Satan? Whitetail Assassination Society? And why is the WAS against the CCGC?
Please summarize in bulleted form.

WAS means "We all suck" They don't like us because we don't. End of story!!

I think this one is a good pick also..maybe it's a double meaning.. "We All Suck" and "White Ass Suckers"

That is not the actually meaning of the CCGC, but you dispariging (sp?) interpretation of WAS is probably correct...Iffin you are actually interested in learning about deerhunting then you should ignore all WAS posts

JMan, You know I am the goat whacking specialist. You can listen to the CCGC, but I know you are in it for the experience and not just to shoot a buck. Because I have proven to be the best deer hunter since Daniel Boone, I will give you all the deer hunting lessons you need. WAS is an org that is trying to help make the deer herd healthier but promoting shooting more does and less antler hunting. This state will be overrun soon with does if we all believe like the Spankmaster. Dont listen to the CCGC, they aint even real hunters.

Until what point Fish? Until the browse is gone and the deer cant grow those racks because of lack of feed? What is the point when you believe the MDC deer biologist, that we have too many deer in Missouri and we are primed for a outbreak of some horrible epidemic? We already saw this in Northern MO with blue tounge. You want to not see any 150" deer, wait untill we get CWD in Mid Mo with a few other nasties, and you will be happy to shoot a healthy 100". Shooting alot of does takes just as much talent as shooting a bunch of little bucks. And every once in a while getting LUCKY enough to kill a big deer. I passed on enough bucks of moderate quality to prove my deer hunting skills. You know anyone else that shot 9 deer with a BOW? Doesnt matter if they are in someone's yard or not, they have to get dead to count.

I feel that we should consentrate on something more than

. I am a huge proponet of shootin the slick heads around here. Making sure that it is of course either a very young doe, or a very old doe. sometimes i feel it nessesary to take out a little spike buck every now and then,... just depends on how he looks at me. but when it boils down to it. All them old fuggin bucks are good for are sausage, bangin up does, and hangin on walls.
think about, the venison happens to be very healthy and if it came from the right deer ie does or young bucks, can be very palatable when cleaved into steaks. most complaints i have heard from people eating deer would be the tough and gamey diagnosis that we are all to fond of. I for one vote for the old non bred doe with fat on both sides of her ribs. Brings new meaning to PETA-People Eating Tasty Animals. this how i feel WHY ANTLERS SUCK. after all you cant eat antler.

Gutpile is correct. It is I peronally choose not to shoot them. At least not until the anlerless only season an only then if I still need some freezer meat. When I start seeing browse lines an starving deer then I will help the herd out. Right now the high density deer herd is in agricultural areas with abundant food supplies an nowhere near the carrying capacity. The southern half of the state, primarily forest is waaay below its carrying capacity an I wouldn't even think about shooting a doe down there. Heck I wouldn't even think about hunting down there.
Well I could go on an on, but I think you got my personal feelings on the matter.

I am with Fish here to the extent that I don't see an over population of deer at my place in Washington County and that is why I rarely deer hunt there much less shoot does there

. I much prefer to go rifle hunting up north in Marion County and hunt other land owned by my family that has too many deer

. I can

and still shoot plenty of deer

.
Gutpile...we might be able to retain some of what you type iffin you would type what you mean

. For example, what does "folks would reatin some of what we type....". You taken lessons from DR
