None of the options appeal to me very much, but I've got a week to decide. Which would you pick?

EBR looks to be the lesser of the evils, and curative.

GoGOP, I'm certainly not a doctor, but if it was me I think I would lean towards the External Beam Radiation. It seems to be the least invasive, and is curative. The risks also appear to be alot more bearable, IMO.

I couldn't do the Radioactive Seed Implant because I have a two year old lil boy, and it would kill him (and his daddy) for him not to be able to sit on my lap for 6 months!

EBR looks like the best deal.

I've got a question about the seed thing....you can't have a child or pregnant woman on your lap for 6 months....but you could have a non-pregnant woman on your lap? Sounds pretty "curative" to me!! Image
Like others have said...EBR looks to the lesser of the evils. (Except for that lady on your lap treatment)

EBR looks like the way to go Kurt. As much as you enjoy pregnant women on your lap, the seed thing is way too much a sacrifice.

Good luck with whatever you choose..we are all behind you.

I'd say go with whatever the doctor recommends. I know that surgery and Y-90 seed implantation works. Don't know a lot about external beam therapy, but if the doctor said go for it, then I would. Also, it certainly depends upon whether or not the disease has metastasized or not. Then, I am certain they will have you on a regimen of chemo. Good thing is this; you can beat this cancer!

Thanks guys. The doctor said in my case he would remove the prostate, except that they'd check the lymph nodes first to see if it had spread. If it's already spread they wouldn't remove the prostate, and would go with one of the other plans.
I've been thinking the same thing, just remove it to be sure I got it all, but I'm not as sure now. Still got some thinkin' to do, but it helps getting your opinions and support. Image Image Image

I agree with PS, the hell with what we think, none of us are doctors (except PS of course). Listen to your oncologist. He's the specialist with the knowledge of what is most likely to work the best for you. His opinion is the one that matters. If he says your best bet is to have the surgery, I'd have the surgery. Just my .02.

GoGop, I just told you what I would do, But if the doc said removal was best then I'd listen to him, What do we know about it. Our prayers are with ya my friend.

Kurt, sorry to read about all this. Prayers for you and yours, from me and mine. My wife is a cancer survivor, she had it last year. Doctor told her it was at stage 2. Thank God for his healing power man, there's no sign of cancer now. Hang in there, and God bless you.

None look very appealing but I'd go with what the Dr. recommends.

My prayers are with you friend.
