Well, I think I have everything stabilized as far as the software is concerned. Please report any technical difficulties in the "Bugs" forum. Also, any input on forums that should be added or removed would be appreciated.

Now that this thing is up and running, I am beginning to give some thought to putting in place some rules. I want to bounce some ideas off of you guys, and let you know what I am thinking. I know a bunch of you just mumbled to yourself, "Rules? We don't need no stinkin rules". While that is often my response in many situations, I think we need to consider the benefit of having some kind of rules.

I am not going to list out rule 1, 2, 3... I think every one here is an adult, and I really don't think that is necessary. Here is kind of what I am thinking...

Each section would have a forum at the top called "The Lodge". So the hunting section would have "The Hunting Lodge" The fishing section would have "The Fishing Lodge". The lodge would be the place to bs. No serious discussion allowed. This is where you post stuff like "MonkeySpanker - You have PM", or "Your mama wears army boots". Perhaps some very basic rules enforced in the lodge, like no SPAM. If you don't like all the shenanigans, then stay out of the Lodge.

In the other forums in each category, we try to maintain a civil on-topic discussion. Right now there is a thread going on here that to me really demonstrates the value of a forum like this one. Here is a guy getting ready to shell our some major cash on a new bow, and he is getting some great feedback - and from some guys that I really respect. That's what it is all about. At the same time, we definitely need a place to razz the guy after he drops a grand on a new rig and still can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. But that is what the lodge is for.

So what do you think. This whole site was really just put here on a whim, but now that it is here, let's figure out how to make the most of it.

You are asking for an administrators nightmare. IF you try and keep the bullshit from mixing up with the real stuff, which I think is usually about 60%-40% respectfully, you are gonna do one of two things.

First, chase your tail editing stuff that doesn't belong amongst the real stuff.

Second, look like you have your tail between your legs if you don't follow up on the rules you established.

People want to be led, but they don't always want to follow. You have your work cut out for you Jdog, whichever way you decide.

JimDog, I think it is a great idea. I for one don't think it will enjoy much success though, at least on the fishin boards. There are a couple of guys down there that have demonstrated in the past they have no respect for the rules. Don't see that changing.

If it can work, I am all for it!

Works for me, i like the b.s. that goes on just as much as the next guy. but i also like the opinions and first hand advice from others to further educate myself and on rare occasions even contribute my self.i have just one request, no orange thongs in the lodge , please! unless you're a woman who works for hooters.

I like your ideas. I know nothing about the admin part of it. I do know that I visit and use other BB's that keep complete control of the posts, somehow. There is some razing, but the majority are serious questions and answers. Frankly, you stand to make some good money on this site if you can run it right (and you have the desire). People are making a living off sites like this.

JDog, this is YOUR place. I have been as quilty in the past as any one bout cuttin up and gettin a lil out of hand, however if I had been approach in the manner you are doing it I would have concurred.

I think there HAS to be a forum for the BSing, and think your idea is a good one. Heck the BSing is a major part of what makes this thing go.

I believe that if...its a Big if...but...it can be ran in an Family Atmospere.....You must be strict...The ones that whine...are generally the ones that can't Control themselves....I've delt with People all my Life....With BIG BUCKS involved.....it Can be done....but....ya need a Stiff Boot...We did it in Building practices.....and what it did for us was weed out all the Bad Contractors...They'ed tell ya what ya wanted to hear but....when needed they'd be No Show Jones....What Developed...was a Very well Oiled Machine....

We we're an Elite Builder in Springfield...and when we Called they came Runnin....Your only as good as your Help....

That goes all around in any aspect of Life...DGS was a Virus on CC...then several Losers called me a Liar as well....I've not lied on these sites...nor will i ever....it gets people riled...and we're all in this Boat together....I'm not out to impress anyone...just want to Help and see people Benifit from my Words...I've a heck of alot of Experience...and i'm willin to share..

First things first...if you Make Rules....They Must Be Enforced.....Enforce them and you'll see it startin to develope right before your Eyes...it'll all start fallin in Place...let some slide....you just started something....its all or Noda...When People see what a good site your Developing...and No CRAP towards others...if so Ban them instantly for others to see...they'll follow your Lead...I've been a Leader all my Life...you must Take Charge..Stay in what ya Say....Abusers are Losers....Bold Statement sayin this...Doit..ya Lose it....

Otherwise this site will Corrupt and you'll end up with head aches....

You'll always have some one ...say a New Member...pop on here and start the Slang or Slander ...Boot them off right off the Bat....Rules are made to Read....and Follow....Pretty Simple...JimDog....Trust me on this....if you'll keep this site Clean....You'll find there's an OutWeighing Audience out there just waiting to Participate....But they don't like to be Teased in a manner that their afraid to Post or Become a Part of your Program......

Thats what i was tellin you about the Choice few that Followed me....They've got a Few Intimadated....Lets Have a Clean site...You'll find it taking off like a Wild Flower...

And i'd be Glad to give some expert Opinions, Methods, Presentations, and just General help to those wanting to learn how to land that Big fish of a Lifetime...

There are many more Good People than the Bad Apples...You know that Story....so...Thats my Opinion...it worked for us in the Building Industry...it can work here as well..

Even a Vote...Several ways to keep your Site and To Keep your work load low.....it can be done....And i'm sure you'll find Several of us that would be More than Happy to keep you abreast of those that want to be TroubleMakers....

You can do it....if not...This site not Bloom....when People see others being Banned....they will comply...I Guarantee it....Try it....You'll not be sorry....

Sounds like a plan to me. I think Billy Boy is right in that there are a lot of people who appreciate a clean forum where they can get serious about the topic and not be made to feel the fool or wade through a lot off off-topic dreck. Just my $.02

JD, you have done a great job with this site, keep that part up. As far as rules here I have not seen anything that has been posted that should be a problem. Instead of rules why don't you have an honor code that says something like don't make it personal, keep it humorous not dirty and would you let your kids read it. I think most of us could follow a code like that if you said that's what you wanted. We appreciate what you are doing and will follow your lead on this. It would be a lot easier to have a code that a bunch of rules subject to interpretation. Keep in mind that in off season most of the post are off topic in any forum, especially deer. I think its mostly fun stuff and never take it personal. We are all just cyber actors playing a part. We will support what ever you do. My .02 worth.

I think you are on the right track and have a nice site going. Thanks for all of the hard work.
There will always be a lot of b.s. but there are a lot of people who contribute useful info. on these sites. If someone doesnt like what someone else says all they have to do is hit the BIG RED X.

JD,I'm with Smitty on this. You put up the rules I'll do my best to follow them. You've done a great job so far
