Stockton 3/10

Launched out of Greenfield. Water is cold, it's windy and the bass have not moved shallow yet. We caught one each in the cove north of Springfield Cove and had a couple of light hits along the walls. Other than that is was no go.
Two fellows were fishing for white bass in the same cove and we saw them catch three or four on a chartreuse shallow diving crank bait. Lots of boats out. Nothing to report from them that we saw. BB caught his along a vertical wall with a Kansas City Pimp Jig and some kind of day glow yellow worm. Mine came later in the morning on a split tail black plastic worm. The main arm of the lake was whitecapping from 9 o'clock on, and the coves were not much better.

Bummer, man. I found out today that a Louisiana "flatlander" trolling motor is not going to cut it for fishing a lake like Stockton in wind like we fished in today....I let a good 12/24 volt go and put on a 12 volt wireless remote unit. That was a bad decision. Shopping starts tomorrow. This was my first time on the Big Sac arm of Stockton...I really like the looks of the water...its up in the brush along the shoreline, and if the bass up here are like the bass further south, there's going to be some great fishing in and around that brush soon. We graphed a lot of small fish, maybe shad, about 30 feet out from the vertical walls around the 12 to 15 foot level, but didn't really see any larger fish. The local guys did not show up until mid-morning, and the majority of those that we saw launch headed downstream toward Turnback Creek. We didn't talk to any of them, so can't pass on anything they might have gotten into. There is a small amount of floating trash, but not nearly as much as I expected to see. The few pieces of floating wood that could damage a hull could be easily seen and avoided. I know a lot of guys prefer to fish when its windy, but it was pretty tough sledding out there today.

CW have not been above the ramp.
That area was one of my favorite places to fish the bank till the MDC shut down the accesses. I've got a dandy Abu rod and reel somewhere across from there. Last time I saw it, it was bouncing across the water.

Gary..hope things go well with your wife's surgery today.
You didn't miss out on any great fishing yesterday. The wind was blowing hard, and you know what that does to most of Stockton. We could not find any place that was sheltered.
We did find somebody that you know, however. There were two guys who came into a small cove behind us and fished the north bank as we worked the south side. Eventually we came close enough to each other to say hello. Billy recognized the man in front as your neighbor, Rick. We told him we would let you know we had seen him. They were catching a few white bass on chartreuse/green crankbaits....Model A Bombers, I believe. That water is just too good looking to not be productive, so we'll be back soon. Will let you know, and hopefully you can join us. We went as far south as the second cove downstream from the launch, and as far back up the Sac as the area where the trees are along the edges of the old river bed. It was rocking and rolling all the way....if the water level stays up, it should be some outstanding fishing pretty soon.

Aint skeerd! The bright side is that you wuz bamboozled by the best....just ask Wolfie! But odds are pretty good that you'll come up with something to even the score. Brang it on! Like that KC Pimp, we wus only trying to be good "social facilitators"....

Looking like Bull Shoals will be on the calendar for maybe Tue or Wed. Will let you know if/when/where. Sharpen those hooks and we'll get a new rear view mirror for the boats.
