The Buck i killed that almost killed me...

Lightning strikes twice, I zapped another Big Buck yesterday! A 250lb. 8 pointer, with lots of "character." It was my second hunt at the new honey hole. It was also my 11th sraight day, of nearly all day hunting vigils. Lots of Rain and the first sunshine in days, and too many granola bars later, IT happened! I climed up an oak that was nearly to large, that I'd seen some turks roosting in last week. I'd been in the tree for about an hour, swaying big time in the wind. Thinking about calling and rattling and A big mama doe came in heated, I did a terrible maaa,
she put on the air brakes, about 70 yards out, flicking that flag and seeming to enjoy her pursuer, she stopped and started to feed. I knew he was on his way. He came in with a big stiffy, looked right up at me about 10 feet away, and then right through me. He kept on her trail and stopped at less than 15 yards, to get a better whiff. The X Bow whacked him broadside, and opened the blood faucet... and 5 seconds later he hit the ground. He even ran towards camp, but not far enough. What a great hunt, at my new favorite spot. I know most of you would have let him walk, But that 12" G2 looked mighty large at close range. He's got 20" mains, with a 6" diameter injured right base. 16 1/2" spread. A 7" brow tine with an "acorn" on top. He's even Bigger bodied than last years. What a great time of year! Climbing down the tree I stopped about 6 from the ground, decided to jump, I planned on bracing myself againt the large locust, I'd pissed on earlier, that way I'd be able to see that boy a few seconds sooner, BIG Mistake, I reached out jabbed a thorn in my hand like I meant to do it, and let go with my weight forward... face first at -9.8m/sec squared Hurts,
Fortunate thing my shoulder broke the fall by hyperextending my good arm. Take your time, I thought I was home free and still managed to f up. I could have used a couple of buddies to help me drag him out 1 hour. That nearly killed me too, then it took another 2 hours just to get him in the bed of my truck, once he was back at camp.
Pictures to come.....
Best of luck to you.
Did I mention It's TIME!
