Yes, the deer is nice, yes, you have memories with your son that will last forever, NO, you are not good looking! When exactly do you plan on hitting puberty?

Oh, sorry for hijacking the thread fishin', my weekend wasn't the greatest I've had, but I did shoot a big old mature doe Saturday morning. I have seen more turkeys in the last week than I have seen in the past 12 years, and that's a lot. Those freakin' birds are everywhere! After firearm season, I'm gonna kill a huge gobbler with my bow, and then the bearded hen I saw Saturday evening.

Yup. Turks are everywhere now. It was apparently a good hatch this year. Also, I'm still seeing quite a bit of insects here, and the oak trees produced a lot of acorns. All that forage will hold the turks through the winter very well and should make for some great turkey hunting the next few years. Image

I bagged a 9 pt Saturday evening and a mature doe Sunday morning. A decent buck but not a wallhanger I was looking for. I saw about 15 deer all weekend. Mostly does and small bucks. I did see another nice 8 pt chasing the doe I killed Sunday. It would not leave after I downed the doe until I climbed down and run it off. Good luck to everyone this week. Be Careful. Image

Hunter91, do you hunt in Souht MO? I was just wondering. I hunt in Pulaski CO. and we didn't see any chasing going on yet, just curious as to where you were.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... I got a doe Sunday mornin.

Stupid slick head ran out in front of my truck. Caught her right in the left flank with my front left bumper corner. Didn't do much damage to the truck, pushed the bumper in bout a half inch or so... can't say the same for the slick.

My F.I.L. got a doe with his Explorer yesterday evening. She ran into the side and caved in the door pretty good.

B.I.L. popped a "monster" this morning. I'm anxious to see just how big it is.

Ah, I see still a little farther north than us, but not that far. Lots of deer down there for sure. Thanks for the info. Hoping to see some activity this weekend.

Saturday morning I passed on a small doe at 50 yards and a large spike buck at 20 yards, because I saw a nice 8-point in heavy brush and trees about 75 yards away. I only got a few glimpses of him so I didn't really have a good shot. I thought maybe he would chase the doe out into the open but he didn't and I didn't see them again. The spike buck was interesting because his spikes were about two foot tall-looked like giant antennas.

Rest of the weekend was quiet for deer movement, even though it was colder. probably have to start pushing them out of CRP and heavy cover.

Taking time off from work this week and next as well as the weekend so I should get a few more chances.
